Thank you to everyone who came out Thursday night to celebrate the reception of If-When with us! It was a great evening to be in community with one another and see even more of @collectivefutures.info come to life.

Tonight at AUTOMAT! Join us at 6-9PM for the opening reception of If-When, featuring new works by Amze Emmons, Rami George, Alicia Link, and Qiaira Riley.

Populating this structure are artworks by Alina Wang & Tiamat, Andra Palchick, Austin Mayer, Chi-Ming Yang, Ella Konefal, Eva Wu, Heather Raquel Phillips, Imogen Gosnell & Ellie Koo, Jane Fentress, Jezabeth Roca Gonzalez, Kaitlin Pomerantz, Kay McGuffin, Kelly He, M Slater, The Moon Baby, Rami George, Tracy Chahwan, and will owen. For Rami George’s contribution to If-When, they worked with Hannah Declercq to build a replica of a community bulletin board from their neighborhood in West Philadelphia and welcomed artists to fill it with posters and flyers. Visitors are encouraged to take home copies of the posters from the gallery for free.

hi philly. i’m showing a new work @automat_collective as part of @collectivefutures.info in great company. curated by @brynnalexis & @addison.namnoum, the show is up oct 3 - nov 21, with an opening on second thursday october 8, 6-9pm.

with many hands and collaborators i’ve reconstructed / revisited a favorite community news & bulletin board, formerly situated at 42nd and lancaster. come see the work of these many incredible artists and activists, and take a poster (or two) for your home or neighborhood. if you’re based in philly (or very recently moved), you’re invited to add to the bulletin board. email me!

also! this structure (with posters removed) needs a home after the run of the show. let me know if you can think of a spot for this beauty to live on (it’s not yet weather proofed, but could be made so).

Print & Play: Game Design Collaboratory
Oct. 10th from 4-7PM at Second State Press, Crane Arts!

Amze Emmons in collaboration with Ethan Carroll will facilitate a one-page game design jam and RISO printing workshop at Second State Press.

Ever dreamed of designing your own roleplaying game? Tired of D&D and ready for Heated & Rivalry? Are you a lover of zines and games but unfamiliar with the long history of game zines? Whether you are a dedicated zine maker, a game designer, or just curious, creating with chance procedures can be fun.

Join us for an afternoon of collaborative making and leave with a one-page multicolor risographed zine. Emphasis will be on quick and dirty making, collage, and poetic ways of thinking about what a game can be.

What do you envision for the future of Philadelphia, and how do you imagine we might evolve to support or challenge that future? Amze Emmons, Rami George, Alicia Link, and Qiaira Riley respond to this question with bold new works that focus on community and calls to action, on view at AUTOMAT October 3rd through November 21st, 2026 as part of the citywide Collective Futures Festival.

Alongside the exhibition, AUTOMAT will release If-When: The Art of the Proposal, a publication exploring proposals as a plan, a means of navigating power, and a signpost for possible futures.

Please join us for an opening reception on Thursday, October 8th from 6-9PM and for a book launch on Thursday, November 12 from 6-9PM.

Collective Futures - Coming Soon!

October 2–November 15, 2026, Collective Futures @collectivefutures.info brings together Philly’s artist-run spaces, collectives, and creative communities for six weeks of exhibitions, performances, workshops, and gatherings across the city!

As part of Collective Futures, AUTOMAT presents If-When, a juried invitational exhibition inspired by the following prompt: “What do you envision for the future of Philadelphia, and how do you imagine we might evolve to support or challenge that future?” Amze Emmons, Rami George, Alicia Link, and Qiaira Riley respond with bold new works that focus on community and calls to action, on view at AUTOMAT October - November 2026.

Alongside the exhibition, AUTOMAT announces If-When: The Art of the Proposal, a publication exploring proposals as a plan, a presentation of hope, and a signpost for a possible tomorrow.
