We are thrilled to welcome Anagh Banerjee to the staff of the MFA Illustration as Visual Essay program. A graduate of the program, Anagh returns as our much needed part time Studio Assistant. Anagh is a visual artist, originally from Bombay, India and currently based in Brooklyn. He graduated from the MFA Illustration as Visual Essay program at SVA in 2018. His practice is rooted in printmaking with a particular focus on woodcuts. His work has been featured in major publications like The New Yorker, The New York Times, Penguin Random House, and the Folio Society. His work has also been showcased at venues such as the Brooklyn Public Library, the Evanston Art Center in Illinois, and SVA. Anagh continues to work on a deeply personal project about the Partition of the Indian subcontinent, which began as his MFA thesis. This ongoing series of woodblock prints documents first-hand accounts of the Partition, blending history and personal storytelling. #sva #svanyc #svanycalumni #mfaillustrationasvisualessaysva #art

IT’S HERE. 🎉⚽ Free NYC Neighborhood Passports are now available at any library branch across all five boroughs. Use yours to explore the World Cup happening all around you — exhibits, dance performances, films, block parties, street soccer clinics, and cultural celebrations citywide.

Here’s how it works:

1. Pick up an NYC Neighborhood Passport at any public library branch.

2. Visit participating events, cultural organizations and ‘Little’ neighborhoods (Little Yemen, Little Caribbean, Little India, and more!) across all five boroughs.

3. Collect 12 stamps designed by NYC artists representing the communities in the tournament. The more places you visit, the better your chances of collecting all 12 stamps.

4. Scan the QR code inside the passport and record your World Cup story — a memory, a moment, a feeling.

Always a thrill to be in the presence and resonance of these magical instruments!

It was my first time listening to the Sarangi live and I really felt it when @officialkamalsabri explained how this instrument comes closest to the human voice.
I am now familiar with drawing both @mir_tabla and @shouvik.mukherjee_sitar and I could keep drawing their rhythmic hands again and again!
Neha's Bhava accompanying the sarangi was the hardest to capture- fleeting delicate gestures!! ufff

How lucky that I get to witness this season after season, among rapt audiences, in my friends' home ❤️ @pupulbisht @ninaadkulkarni

In response to the devastating floods in Punjab this year, which have displaced thousands of families and caused immense loss to homes, farmlands, and livelihoods, we are coming together to raise funds for relief, rehabilitation, and the long-term rebuilding of Punjab. This fundraiser is not only about urgent relief but also about standing in solidarity with Punjab’s Charhdi Kala — its spirit that is already alive — and ensuring sustained support for the communities whose lives remain deeply impacted long after conversations fade.

A bunch of us photographers and artists from around the world — in collaboration with @theglobalsikhs and @methodindia — have put together a curated selection of prints and artwork to raise funds for Global Sikhs’ ongoing relief and rehabilitation efforts.

All proceeds will be used directly by Global Sikhs, who are working tirelessly on-ground to support families affected by the floods.
