A Wonderful Evening at Black Mountain! 🏔️🦇

We had such an amazing evening at Black Mountain with our young people, thanks to Anna from the National Trust and Sîan from Belfast Hills, who invited us to take part in a fantastic bat box-making activity!

Our young people enjoyed learning how to make bat boxes, discovering more about the importance of protecting wildlife, and finding out how we can help provide safe places for bats to shelter.🏠

It was also a great opportunity for teamwork, developing new skills, and spending quality time together outdoors.

We’re so proud of everyone who took part and grateful for Anna and Sîan's work organising such a wonderful and meaningful experience.

A brilliant evening of caring for nature! 💚🌍

Lovely to host our friends from @thetelosgroup at @101donegallst today and share about our work @redeemercentral including the story of @thelongtablebelfast and the partnership with @anakacollective.

Equally inspiring and challenging conversations on generosity, love, conflict, peacemaking, racism, othering, difference, human dignity, loss and reconciliation.

We love the work of @thetelosgroup to educate and advocate to peace across lines of difference. 🙏

This week, @lukebutterlyjournalist in @thedetailtv revealed that Stormont ‘heatmapping’ exercises found that 1 in 6 electoral wards across NI were unsafe for the @ukhomeoffice to house asylum seekers…

Adding to that the areas where they had “reservations” about housing people, and you’re left with just over half of NI deemed safe for asylum seekers to live.

Is this all we expect from the authorities, to map out these areas of increased threat and violence and then abandon the people who live there? Can we allow those who facilitate racist violence to control who gets to live in their communities?

Do we accept these ‘Red’ and ‘Amber’ zones as permanent, or do we ask how we can remove these threats of violence and strive to make everywhere a ‘Green’ zone?

Beautiful music and gorgeous dress! It’s amazing how much political depth you convey without taking away from the beauty of your songs. Thank you so much for the tickets

Every young refugee and asylum seeker has their own story when it comes to attempting to access education, but we see the same themes cropping up in every case.

Delays, language barriers, isolation.

We need targeted education provision for newcomer children and young people that recognises their unique needs and provides a clear, tailored pathway into learning.
