🔗LINK IN BIO🔗 Education & Revolution is a free six-week course for educators presented by Remaking Education as Care, Emancipation, Struggle, and Solidarity (RECESS), with support from the Pan African Student Union, Socialist Unity, Migrante Quebec, and Anakbayan Montreal.The goal of the course is to compare the role of education in revolutionary resistance movements to its role in state projects established following the victory of such movements. The course will begin by studying ongoing struggles and progress toward nation-states established through popular liberation fronts. The topics of study will be the Landless Workers' Movement in Brazil, the Zapatistas Army of National Liberation in Chiapas, the People's Democratic Revolution in the Philippines, Somalia and the Socialist Constitution, Eritrea, and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, in that order. The course is designed for student teachers, working teachers, community educators, and organizers. However, anyone interested in the course content is welcome to participate. Though this is the second part the Education & Revolution curriculum, participants need not have attended the first part of the course to understand the material or register. Weekly two-and-a-half-hour lessons will take place on Saturday afternoons. Each lesson will consist of a roughly one-and-a-half-hour lecture followed by group discussion activities. Registration is optional. The dates of each lesson are: September 19, September 26, October 3, and October 17, October 24, and October 31 from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm. The course will be given in English at the CSU Lounge on the 7th floor of the Henry F. Hall Building (Room H701 - 1455 Blvd. De Maisonneuve Ouest). Accessibility: The building has an elevator accessible from street level. There is a prayer room nearby the CSU lounge.

Montreal PSONA Highlights the Voices of Overseas Filipinos and Calls Out State Propaganda MONTREAL, QC — BAYAN Canada member organizations and their allies in Montreal successfully held their annual People's State of the Nation Address (PSONA) on July 26 at Voyageur Provincial Park, bringing together overseas Filipinos and supporters for a day of political education, collective reflection, and community building. As an alternative to the Philippine government's official State of the Nation Address, participants critically examined issues affecting the Filipino people, including the country's economic crisis, systemic corruption, attacks on Philippine sovereignty, and the government's failure to support workers, migrants, and other vulnerable sectors. Through a participatory teach-in, attendees collectively analyzed these issues before presenting their discussions through a creative street theatre performance. Participants organized into small groups and selected representatives to portray satirical characters, including President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., members of political dynasties who continue to benefit from corruption, and activists exposing government propaganda while amplifying the people's demands. The performance underscored the role of culture and collective action in challenging official narratives and highlighting the lived realities of Filipinos both at home and abroad. The program continued with a placard-making activity, where members and supporters created protest signs carrying messages such as "Marcos, tuta, diktador, pasista!" and "No to Pax Silica!" in preparation for future mobilizations. Reflecting on the day's discussions, one participant shared: "I've learned that our PSONA is not about experts telling me what my realities are as an overseas Filipino worker. We are the experts here, and even the president cannot lie to us about what we and our families are experiencing on the ground. While he, his cronies, and the political elite continue to enrich themselves through corruption, our voices remain unheard." (Continued in comments...)

Housing Rights Workshop Recap from July 11’s How to refuse rent increase On July 11, 2026, we gathered with members of Migrante Quebec, Anakbayan Montreal, Pinay Quebec, and families from Bourret Avenue for a powerful housing rights info session presented by Project Genesis. The Key takeaway: Don't sign anything before you know your rights! There were valuable, big questions from the room: - Which online tools can I use to find affordable apartments and compare rent increase? - What protections exist if a landlord threatens deportation to a tenant? - Do temporary foreign workers whose housing is tied to their employer have the same right to maintain occupancy as housing resident tenants? Some questions need case-by-case follow-up, but one thing is clear: knowing your rights changes everything. Attendees left encouraged to connect with local community housing resources. RAIN OR SHINE! BONG BONG MARCOS IS OUT OF LINE! Today, Marcos Jr is the first Filipino President to step foot in KKKanada in 11 years. His visit was at the request of the regressive PM Mark Carney to sellout the Philippines to defense contractors, AI surveillance centres, and Mining contractors. This is the same Marcos Jr that takes billions of his peoples tax money for himself and leaves his people to fight climate crises, and rising oil prices by themselves with his empty, unfinished “Pork Barrel” infrastructure. The Philippines has the largest unmined gold reserve in the world and thousands of bountiful islands yet its people are still poor. KKKanada already owns around 15% of the mining companies in the PH, yet is rumoured to have their hands in 50% of mining in the PH. WE ARE BEING SOLD OUT. This is the same Bong Bong Marcos who’s father popularized the export of our labour and the selling of our people’s dignity and rights. 4000-7000 Filipinos leave the Philippines EVERY DAY in search of better work that does not exist thanks to Marcos. This visit fuels the Fascist Armed Forces of the Philippines to continue killing and red tagging peaceful activists like the Toboso 19. International Migrants Alliance Canada General Assembly 2026 was a powerful gathering of migrant leaders and allies united under the theme: Grassroots Migrants and Workers, Unite Against Imperialism! On June 27, 2026, PINAY Quebec, a proud associate member of Migrante Quebec, is honored to have participated in this historic assembly alongside Migrante chapters from different Canadian provinces. Together, we shared urgent reports on the realities facing migrant workers today: from prohibited recruitment fees, illegal taxes, and exorbitant healthcare costs to language justice barriers, growing commodification of and militarization against temporary foreign workers. Migrante Canada chapters and its members also summarized many strategies and actions carried out to resist increasing anti-migrant policies and strengthen our communities: social mapping, community outreach, relationship building with migrant workers and locals, organizing with ally migrant justice groups, info sessions on Bill C-12 and migrant rights, film screenings, campaigns, and more. Finally, we discussed and reached a solidarity on IMA Canada By-laws and IMA Canada Chapter General Program of Action for 2026 to 2029. We also congratulate the newly nominated Country Coordinating Committee members of IMA for the coming years.
