JOYLAND Enclosed in a bubble of thoughts, in an ethereal world of solitude, lost in the compression of my headphones, just me and my wandering mind. I imagine myself there, searching for the sun to sink into a sky pouring with light. #sunset #cinematic #35mmfilmphoto #outdoors #moon In the art of seeing the world through different eyes, I search for existence within all this dense, overwhelming world for meaning in what surrounds me, and for something that makes simply being here feel enough. #landscape #analog #streetphotographersmagazine #orange #circus In the end, we seek peace for the senses in the silence of a room, where a window sighs softly, waiting for whatever is yet to become. #switzerland #geneva #35mm #sunsets_captures #cinematography

Design Doubloons from my newsletter. #1 - my friends got tattoos in this matching style. The white contrast on the black is so nice. And the rendering on the wrinkles of that balloon… (will tag the artist once I hear from them who it is) #2 - this was a lamp not for sale at a thrift shop in Wicker Park. But it was caked in dust. If you’re not gonna let me buy it at least take care of it. #3 - We went on one of the architecture boat tours of Chicago (which I HIGHLY recommend. It was incredible) but they punched our tickets with a little boat hole puncher as we boarded #4 - Went to a Coney Island Cyclones game and saw the team get beaten to a pulp, but the neon sign for tickets was beautiful Okay and then these are some “design treaures” I found around the internet: #1 - @fortunatejoaquin ‘s illustration are deceptively “simple.” They’re big simple shapes and bright colors, but it’s so clear each decision was painstakingly considered. The clarity of the subject matter while also keeping things this pretty is so impressive. #2 - @analogue.doc recently made a post about hotel stickers in the 1930’s. Hotels used to slap these on your luggage as you got off the boat. They’re absolutely beautiful, but also can you image the damage they’d cause to expensive luggage? #3 - This one is a crazy rabbit hole to fall down. @ghostpantry collects and photographs old pantry items. It’s an amazing catalogue of all kinds of design inspiration and history #4 - I didn’t think about it until I saw it, but of course shop signs have trends and fads like anything else. Sign maker @designify recently posted about current trends and now I want a sign for out front my apartment I also include creative stories and links at the top of each edition. I know you can’t click these, but just a preview Get stuff like this directly delivered to your inbox by subscribing to Design Cache! The link is in my bio!

10 Laws of Graphic Design Every Designer Should Master 1. Good Design Is Clear Communication → Great design communicates a message instantly. Every color, shape, typeface, and layout choice should make the idea easier to understand. 2. Good Design Is Intentional Thinking → Every design decision should have a reason behind it. Strong designers don’t just create visually appealing work — they create with purpose, strategy, and direction. 3. Good Design Is Meaningful Simplicity → Simplicity is not about removing elements; it’s about removing distractions. The best designs focus on what truly matters and deliver maximum impact with minimum complexity. 4. Good Design Is Strong Hierarchy → A powerful design controls the viewer’s attention. Proper hierarchy helps people understand what to see first, what to read next, and what action to take. 5. Good Design Is Visual Harmony → Every element should feel connected and balanced. Colors, typography, spacing, and composition should work together to create a unified visual experience. 6. Good Design Is Timeless Execution → Great design goes beyond temporary trends. It creates a lasting visual identity that remains relevant, memorable, and effective over time. 7. Good Design Is Strategic Decisions → Design is not just about creativity; it’s about making smart choices. Every element should support the brand’s goals, audience, and overall message. 8. Good Design Is User-Centered → Design should always consider the people experiencing it. Understanding the audience helps create solutions that are useful, accessible, and meaningful. 9. Good Design Is Consistency Maintained → Consistency builds recognition and trust. Maintaining a clear visual system makes designs stronger, more professional, and easier to remember. 10. Good Design Is Problem Solving → At its core, design exists to solve problems. The best designers transform challenges into clear, creative, and effective visual solutions. Great design is not created by adding more elements — it is created by making better decisions. Layout Inspiration @analogue.doc

Intrinsic motivation drives sustainable performance: with (striving for) autonomy, mastery, and personal meaning, effort becomes self-driven, resilient, and long-lasting—the outcome becomes secondary. • • 🎞️ #fuji400 📷 #nikomN90 #meximalismo • • Dev/scan by: @dichroicfilmlab

in the 1980s, vhs tape design was all about function meeting a certain kind of analog futurism. the cassettes themselves were minimal black plastic shells with clear labels but the packaging stood out. you’d see bold typefaces, rainbow stripes, geometric shapes, and metallic logos that gave even blank tapes a sense of importance. each design element communicated technical specs like tape length (t‑120), audio type, or brand identity, but also tapped into the era’s love of tech-forward aesthetics. these designs weren’t flashy for the sake of it. they had to work on store shelves, where visuals drove consumer choice. over time, they became part of a larger visual language that still influences retro and vaporwave design today.
