we parted ways a long time ago. i was young and so was he, but i always knew from a young age what i wanted. i knew what i liked and what i didn’t, i knew what made me happy and i knew what made me sad. he didn’t have the same experiences as me growing up. i wasn’t born with a silver spoon in my mouth, but he didn’t grow up on hand outs either. i wasn’t given everything i wanted, i worked for it but he wanted, thought or expected it to be given to him. meeting him was the strangest experience of my life because i knew i wanted him but i didn’t know why. we both moved on and one day when i was on my way to meet friends for lunch, i heard a familiar voice call my name. when i turned to see him, my eyes recognised him but my heart did not. was he stranger? was he an old lover? was he a new friend? no, he was simply somebody that i used to know.
