Launching the first release of bodi to @renataroaming mums in business group was incredible for so many reasons! This inspiring group of women has helped shape bodi, and if I didn’t show up and start sharing about bodi almost a full year ago I don’t know if we would even be live yet. Such a buzz having such cool women be the first to get their hands on the next big thing 👀

Answer this honestly… Would you know exactly what to do if your child started choking or needed CPR?

Because I’ll be honest, I didn’t. And that’s scary.

I’ve been making my way through the @andbreathefirstaid First Aid Courses. These are online courses that you complete in your own time to help you become confident in being able to treat your child for things like choking, drowning, an allergic reaction or needing to do CPR. There’s also modules on general child sicknesses like gastro, fever and more. You’ll be left with a full understanding of what you can do and when it’s an emergency and you need to call for help.

Plus all the modules are delivered in bite-sized pieces so you can watch them while baby naps, while you drink a coffee, or even in bed instead of scrolling!

I fully believe all parents should complete this course. You always hope you’ll never need it, but it’s better to be prepared!

Course was kindly gifted by @andbreathefirstaid

I’m really hoping with spring around the corner all the mums start to see a little less sickness 😮‍💨

Not going to lie we have been hit pretty light this winter with sickness considering how rough it’s been with the flu going around. My 14 month old went down with a fever and became very lethargic it definitely caught me off guard.

The online navigating childhood sickness course from @andbreathefirstaid was exactly what I needed to remind me of all the things to look out for which did give me peace of mind in those first few days.

If you are wanting to navigate your little ones sickness with confidence then check out their online courses, easy to watch & easy to learn!

The daycare bugs don't discriminate between SAHMs, working mums, health background or not. So, after a long difficult winter I recently made time to go through the new course bundle from @andbreathefirstaid which includes First Aid, Navigating Childhood Sickness, and Assessing Your Unwell Child. Because it's founded by two paediatric ICU nurses, I knew it was clinically solid. What I loved most is how simple, calm and practical the lessons are. I also loved being able to go through the content in the comfort of my own home. #andbreathefirstaid #childhoodsickness #workingmum #firstaidforparents #parentingconfidence

I was given some truly gorgeous baby shower gifts when I had my first baby. I could feel the love put into every single one.

Here are some of the more unique gift ideas for a new parent having a baby.

1. Freezer meals. A good friend contacted every single person on my baby shower list and asked them to bring me a freezer meal. This was incredible on the arrival of my baby, when time was short and we were exhausted.

2. A baby first aid course. I had this included with my antenatal class, and it was invaluable. But I always think this would be a perfect gift for a new parent. The gift of peace of mind that they will know what to do if their baby needs emergency support. Try @andbreathefirstaid or @little_beat_first_aid.

3. Baby clothing in larger sizes. I was so grateful for all the gorgeous clothing I received as gifts, but the more unique one was the larger sizes. 3-6 months and 6-12 months and beyond. Choose clothing made of breathable fabrics like cotton or wool (it helps with baby’s temperature regulation), and make sure it can stretch and move with them.

4. Postpartum support group. There’s nothing quite like connecting with other parents during such a colossal transition. It can help parents feel seen, safe, and supported. Try @imperfectparents.nz or @parentsupportpostpartum.

A good quality keep-warm cup. This is for the coffee and tea drinkers. A good friend gave me this when I had my first baby. I never had to drink my tea cold. And every time I had a hot sip of tea, I was reminded that I matter too.

If you’re a parent, I’d love to hear your favourite baby shower gifts you received. I really do read every single comment.

Save this list for when you’re next buying a baby shower gift, and you’ll never be stuck on what to buy again 🤍

Not our usual content but I had to share.

Our blind cords had been hanging unsecured since we moved in.

It was in the back of my mind to deal with it.

But this week, I heard two stories of little ones who got blind cords tangled around their necks. One was lucky. She was found in time, though her lips had already started turning blue (a sign her body was being starved of oxygen). The other wasn’t so lucky.

I also spoke with Char at @andbreathefirstaid, who has dealt firsthand with the aftermath of this exact thing.

I finally dealt with it. I’m sharing here because I know you’re busy, and your to-do list is already a mile long. I don’t want to guilt you, mine sat unsecured for weeks too. But if you haven’t already, let this be your sign to do it today.

Secured blind cords save lives.
