• @andcreativegallery Meet Martin Beadle. Martin is an Annapolis-based artist whose work in Folklore & Folktales explores two themes often found in traditional stories: hidden things and transformation. A lifelong collector, Martin creates masks and assemblages using found objects, textiles, stones, shells, plant pods, and other materials. His three years living in West Africa also influenced his appreciation for creating with natural and repurposed materials. His work often includes bundles and boxes that conceal special objects, inspired by the hidden keys, buried treasures, and secrets found in folktales. And then there’s transformation. A piece of wire found on the sidewalk might become part of a mask or wall piece, taking on an entirely new purpose. As Martin explains, “I can find a piece of runoverwire on the sidewalk and it is often in a beautiful, balanced shape.” Read more in our journals at ANDCreativeStudio.com. And don’t miss your chance to experience his work in person! 🎨 Folklore & Folktales Closing Reception 📅 Friday, October 30 | 6–9 PM 📍 AND Gallery | Annapolis Come celebrate the artists, explore the exhibition, and see what stories you discover in the work. ✨

✨ Sometimes the magic is giving someone enough space to decide they want to join in. In class at @artfarmannapolis we started with the history of the magic wand, then looked at Picasso’s famous light drawings, photographed by Gjon Mili in 1949. Picasso drew with light. So naturally… we had to try it. ✨ The kids made their own magic wands with beads + fabric, then we turned out the lights and started painting with light. Every kid did it differently. Swirls. Shapes. Names. Spells. Chaos. Magic. And then we made one giant light painting together. The coolest part? This turned into a spontaneous collaboration with Kaitlyn McQuaid + her student Maeve, who were doing a private photography lesson nearby. They jumped right in and became creative directors extraordinaire, helping our younger artists turn movement into light. 📸 Photography: Kaitlyn McQuaid + Maeve This is the kind of art education I love: Here’s an idea. Here are some materials. Here’s a little art history. Here’s some room. Now show me what YOU do with it. Huge love to Kaitlyn + Maeve, and to all the amazing artists and teachers at ARTfarm who make this such a creative community. ❤️ Sometimes you make a wand. Sometimes you paint with light. And sometimes you make something together that none of you could have made alone. ✨ Go check out the ARTfarmers and see what they’re making! @artagayne #ARTAGAYNE #ARTfarm #LightPainting #kidsart #ArtCollaboration AnnapolisArt

• @andcreativegallery Meet Felicia L. Reed. Felicia is an international award-winning fiber artist creating Healing Wraps from silk, wool, vintage fibers, repurposed textiles, and found materials using the ancient process of wet felting. She calls them “wearable folklore.” Each piece carries stories of memory, ancestry, resilience, and healing—bringing together loose fibers through water, pressure, friction, and time. As Felicia puts it — “The process of binding loose fibers through water, pressure, friction, and time mirrors our own journeys of healing.” Come experience Felicia’s work in Folklore&Folktales and read more in the journals at ANDCreativeStudio.com

📣ANNOUNCEMENT📣 5 years in the making. My camera and I set out to capture the beautiful souls who became my chosen tribe. I lost my village and had to rebuild from scratch: relearning how to let people in, fighting my way out of the fog. A few of them helped guide me back into the light. They kept me grounded. One night, I get to honor those souls with portraits, poetic storytelling, and a surprise or two. As I close out the @andcreativegallery “Folklore & Folktales” exhibit with my solo experience, I am beyond honored. Stop by, and who knows? Maybe I’ll be a part of your tribe too.
