It’s a very strange feeling not finishing where you thought you might and aimed to. After doing this expedition we realised that the end goal is just a very small factor, amending and adjusting our goals was necessary in this endeavour. We might not have achieved our distance but concentrating on our sustainability goals has been more than we could imagine. We collected over double the weight of our own boat in ocean plastics, helped communities clean their local waters and importantly got to know that amazing seafaring nation of Norway.

we have also come to realise that the Nordic endeavour doesn’t have to just stop here following sustainability goals and pushing limits. We hope to carry on caring for the seas around us, cleaning them of the pollution we put in them and raising awareness that no matter how small every little helps and everyone can play apart. The Nordic Endeavour does not end with this expedition.

2000kms from Kirkenes to Ålesund ✅

While not Oslo, we are grateful to have made it 2000kms through a lot of rain, rain, and more rain, and some very stormy seas with a little amount of sunshine thrown in.

From not one rudder break, but two … not only did we make it, we cleared up a whole lot of rubbish from the ocean and beaches along the way!

We met amazing local communities, fellow adventurers, and a few whales too.

While the rowing itself is over - for now - the purpose of this challenge isn’t. We want to continue our objectives of protecting our marine environment and raising money for the wonderful charity, Air Ambulances UK.

Well we have finally done it 2000 km later two tons of trash collected and some very sore hands and bums but what a trip it was.

A big thanks to all the support throughout this whole journey we couldn’t have done it without everybody contributing.

We still plan to continue raising money a bit longer for our charities and our causes feel free to help us out as much as you can.

🚨 IMPORTANT UPDATE 🚨

After some difficult conversations, the team have had to make a very frustrating and unwanted decision about where to finish the row.

We had initially planned to row to Oslo, and make the 3000kms around the coastline. However, due to our earlier challenges with the rudder being damaged (twice!) and the increasingly challenging and unforgiving weather, finishing in Oslo seems increasingly impossible in our time frame.

Our main focus of the Nordic Endeavour challenge is to raise awareness to - and promote - the protection of the marine environment (by collecting trash and working with @plastfritthav) and to raise money for @airambulances. By rushing to Oslo, we would miss opportunities to work alongside local communities to achieve these objectives.

Therefore, we have decided to finish our row in Ålesund on the 22st of August 🙌🏼 this way, we can spend our final weeks working with the communities on route by carrying out large ocean clean ups 🐟

The people of Norway have been the highlight of our challenge and we are continually surprised (and grateful!) by the warmth and kindness of the local communities.

Together, we can keep Norway wild and beautiful - looking after the environment we live in 💙

After battling some pretty rough weather out to see we eventually made it to shore and had a good rest. With again full day of strong winds we had to stay put so we got out there and cleaned as much ocean waste as possible. It didn’t take long before we had 10 bags of plastic, old fish nets and cans.

We had a once in a lifetime encounter with a pilot whale who seemed to have lost its pod, and needed a little bit of love 💙

This is a reminder for us to keep our ocean - and this wonderful whales home - clean and free of rubbish 🙌🏼

Some critical communications with The Bracer radio system by @qinetiqgroup . Communication plays a key role in this expedition and without a reliable system you could end up in a lot of trouble.

We have been lucky enough with Norway’s 5G coverage but every now and then we head out wide and rely on this incredible radio system to stay in touch with Steve in our support vehicle. Late last night we had some rough weather and needed to stay in touch with the land crew for timings coming in.

After a good night sleep we are heading out wide to catch some winds and take us to our next location. Next planned stop we will be suiting up and Diving in collecting trash and doing an ocean cleanup. Before that it’s row row row.

We’re rowing from Kirkenes to Ålesund, and wherever we make landfall, we try to leave the coastline a little cleaner than we found it.

During the expedition, we’re documenting marine litter, organising cleanups and encouraging others to join the effort.
