The second wave of artists for Iceland Airwaves 2026 has landed. More than 40 new acts have been added to the lineup for the festival, taking place from November 5th–7th. In keeping with the festival's core ethos, the Icelandic scene remains at the heart of the programme, with homegrown talent making up half of the announcement. While established mainstays like Úlfur Úlfur, RAKEL, Jónfrí, and LÓN make their returns, the announcement also spotlights emerging voices, from Músíktilraunir winners Falinn gjóður, singer songwriters Bjarni Daníel and Brynja and indie rock bands BKPM and Flesh Machine to freak-folk inspired Marsibil, Spouses and Einakróna, Mexican/Icelandic folk artist Andervel and on and on and on! Iceland Airwaves has wrapped up and most of the dust has settled. So let's look back at what took place. Iceland Music, in collboration with Reykjavik Music City, Business Iceland, Iceland Airwaves and countless other partners organised nearly 20 events through Bransaveislan and the IA Conference, and the highlights were endless. The President of Iceland, Halla Tómasdóttir, opened the conference on Thursday with a fiery chat and Lilja Birgisdóttir of Fischersund closed the same day with a hypnotic scent experience. Music Supervisors hosted a workshop at INNI, the Speed-meetings were packed, Prikið explored cafés as cultural hubs, KÍTÓN addressed gender equality, Business environment was explored at CCP, the Feedback project was a baptism of fire for emerging writers, and the list goes on. This goal of this programme is to support our music community. We were thrilled with the response and left the festival re-energised and full of new ideas. Takk fyrir okkur og áfram íslensk tónlist! 🔗 Full recap in the link in bio. 📸 Julie Rowland, Hörður Sveinsson, Sunna Ben and Mummi Lú
