This summer, I made a wild short film called The Doghouse. There are few things I love more in this world than making movies with the people I love most. To everyone who helped bring this twisted little piece to life, I’m so damn grateful for you, and so excited for y’all to see it soon.

Give us a lil follow for some fun updates about the project! To kick it off, here’s the official poster art by the one-and only @jackaamo You absolutely killed this bud, I love ya very much.

@thedoghouse.mov is coming soon 🐾

So proud of our team for being an official selection at the @chicanohollywood Film Festival this year 🇲🇽🎥 ✨ We whipped up this little trailer to celebrate the occasion. Can’t wait for you all to see it 🫶🏽

——

UNSUNG offers a backstage pass into the world of musicians teetering on the brink of success. Our project follows the trials and tribulations of emerging artists within their vibrant hometown music scenes — capturing the essence of what it means to put it all on the line for a chance to be heard.

Our pilot follows the life of music photographer and musician Rudy Torres as he battles for artistic recognition while grappling with the harsh reality of his father’s homelessness. Through Rudy’s rollercoaster journey – from touring with Mexican pop singer Carla Morrison across the U.S. to guiding his own band ‘Mexico City Heartbreak’ – Rudy fights to survive LA’s unforgiving local music scene.

On New Years 2022, Andy and I made the best decision and flew to Nepal to trek up to Everest Base Camp. And we’ve been sitting on this MOUNTAIN of beautiful footage for years. Figured it was time to close that loop and share it with you all 🏔️

Also better late than never, but happy 2 years mi vida. Here’s to many more amazing adventures together 💛

Topanga, it looks like I will be back in town for a week, accompanying a very close brother and wild food filmmaker friend of mine @son_ofthewoods for the Topanga film festival!
I will be jumping in to lend a hand and offer some tasty forest to table tapas, to pair with his herbal elixir bar, in celebration and promotion of his film project “Embracing the Wild”.

I have also decided to offer a few impromptu local mushroom walks around town, during the mornings of Friday 20 Saturday 21 and Sunday 22, 9-11:30AM
My intention is to continue to build a bridge between Topanga and the northern California lands where I now reside. So come up and join us to share in all things fungi, while we walk and see what discoveries mother nature has lying in wait for us.
The fall mushroom season got started early this year, with the series of tropical storms that SoCal was very blessed to receive.
And it has been just the right amount of time and rain for a continued smattering of fall species to wake up and come to fruition.
If you can’t catch me for any of these October dates, know that I will be back in December and January.

For love of mushrooms & Mother Earth

Better late than never….first Hawaii trip ‘22. Ev & I escaped for my birthday and had an unforgettable adventure car camping and driving through the entire island of Maui. We loved going off the beaten path and seeing the island that way. Shoutout to Old Goat Rentals who literally geared up our camper upon landing and saving our day! If you ever wanna see the island for yourself, def recommend getting it from this awesome local family business. We’ll be back for more, Hawaii, very soon.

Topanga! I am pleased to announce that my sweet friends @rootedbotanics and myself will be collaborating once again, and offering our community a mushroom and plant walk in our very own backyard, Topanga Cyn! On January 21st priced @ $40 per person for a two hour walk! 10:30am-12:30p

Mushrooms are presently fruiting all over the mountains! And I have personally noticed our local Jack O’Lantern population has bloomed and blossomed in many of our woodland habitats.
The Western Jack O’Lantern Omphalotus olivascens, is a deeply interesting and unique species!
Apart from being toxic to consume, it is often mistaken by novice hunters looking for chanterelles, and eaten, resulting in *very unpleasant* gastrointestinal upset for a few uncomfortable days and nights 😵‍💫🤪💩
We will however, shed light on some very thorough identification diagnostics, while we find it growing here and there on our walk!

But what we will really be focusing on is one of its other “colorful uses” in that
Jack O’Lanterns can be utilized and rendered into a mushroom-based dye for both protein based and plant based fibers, textiles etc! Including a gorgeous dark purple which takes some skill to achieve and is a rather rare color to achieve in the world of plant/mushroom based dyes!
So, as we prime our community for another “how to dye with mushrooms” workshop, let’s begin first with our very own, beautiful and intoxicating, local species, the Jack O’Lantern! This is our first collaborative plant & mushroom walk of the season, to discuss all things plants, mushrooms and eco friendly dye!

Register @rootedbotanics link in there bio!

Mucho Mush Love! 🍄💜🌱
