A grieving therapist reawakens through an unexpected connection with a struggling client, but her inability to hold a professional line with him threatens their relationship.

Reggie, a disengaged therapist left reeling from the death of her brother, finds her status quo upended by a new patient Winston who suffers from a debilitating fear of life. Their lives quickly become entangled when an inexplicable intimacy blooms between them. After their connection becomes impossible to navigate, they decide to see a therapist for their therapist-client relationship. These two strange people whose dynamic might be even stranger may be just what the other needs to wake up to life.

San Diego, you were magic.

Our live showcase of Sense of Direction was something special. Raw, vulnerable, beautiful humans opening up about mental health, love, and the messy parts of being alive.

We got the conversation flowing. People shared. People listened. We felt something real happening in that room.

And THAT is why we need to make this film.

Because mental health deserves more than silence. Because human connection matters. Because sometimes a story gives us permission to say the things we’ve been carrying around for years.

What a beautiful reminder of why we create art.

Sense of Direction. This is just the beginning. ❤️

Experience Andrea Dratch live at Cucalorus 32 in Wilmington, NC
Nov. 19-22nd. @cucalorus

Five hours.
One body.
Countless worries & fears.

I’m proud to bring DIRT DON’T HURT, my five hour durational work, to Wilmington, North Carolina a festival that has spent more than three decades making space for independent film, performance, experimentation, and artists willing to make strange things.

For five hours, I’ll carry the physical weight of what strangers are ready to let go of.

DIRT DON’T HURT accompanies my experimental film NO SWIMMING. @noswimmingthefilm

Grateful to Cucalorus for giving this work a place to get dirty, breathe, and exist.

Come experience me. Come leave something behind.
