Bye-bye, 2025✨

It’s been a long year. I found new places, enjoyed good theatre, had fun gigs, went to my first rodeo, and performed in a really amazing summer contract. I kept working toward my second bachelor’s, even though it’s been tough this semester. My family lost two precious cats before their time. The holidays were otherwise very kind to me, and I was able to kind of enjoy them this year. I have to look at these things, the microcosms of my life. When I look at the state of the world, I can often forget that all this matters too. And maybe gratefulness and humble awareness can make the world better too?

Maybe we should try that in 2026.

In the beginning was the land.

As September draws to a close, I want to reflect on the last few months. It’s taken me all month to figure out what I want to say, and it still isn’t everything. But those who really need to know all that already know, so let’s get into the rest.

This summer I got to be in Unto These Hills outdoor drama, something I’d been dreaming about forever. And I’m not going to lie, the process was hard. Auditioning was nerve-wracking, and when I got to Cherokee, I didn’t know anyone yet and pushed myself harder than ever in rehearsals because I wasn’t sure if I really deserved to be there.

As the weeks went on, that didn’t stop mattering to me. But something else started mattering to me, too, and that was the people around me. Living on the Hill taught me what gadugi (the Cherokee concept of community) really means. From sitting around on the bridge during thunderstorms to Saturday nights spent dancing or yapping into the wee hours of the morning, to just being there to hold each other when things were hard, I really felt like part of a family. It was beautiful.

So to everyone at Unto These Hills, thank you for the most creatively fulfilling and joyous summer of my life. I love you.

been dreading making this post cause I don’t want it to feel real but here we go… This summer I had the opportunity to be a part of the 75th Anniversary of Unto these Hills Outdoor Drama in Cherokee, NC. I truly didn’t know what to expect after hearing about and signing the contract just days before the job started but wow. This summer was truly unlike any that i have ever had. From the extremely late nights that would turn into early mornings to scream singing our hearts out on the dance floor every Saturday night after a canteen show, this summer was truly magical. thank you to my INCREDIBLE cast and crew for making this a truly unforgettable summer. I love and miss you all dearly. I wouldn’t trade the friendships and experiences i made this summer for the world. 76th anyone??🩵

P.S. enjoy the last few clips to get a glimpse into our beautiful chaotic summer:))

It’s about time I make this post

This summer I had the opportunity to join @cherokee_adventure_ for their 75th anniversary season of their outdoor drama, Unto These Hills. This was my first real contracted job as an actor and it was such a joy. I got to try new things, see new sites, and most importantly meet some of the most amazing and lovely people around. From spending long hot days in the Oconaluftee River to the crazy canteen shows at night to even catching up with family, it was a nonstop good time. This was easily one of the best summers I’ve ever had and I would never trade it for anything.

My heart is so full. This summer was so beyond incredible and I will do my best to put into words what an amazing time I had.
To recap:
I met some of the most amazing and talented people on the planet. I got to create some incredibly beautiful and complex theatre with true visionaries of their craft. I played a whole bunch of new board games with so many different people. I fought more than I could have hoped for and got to choreograph my very first test fight. Unintentionally saw the sun rise four times. Drank more beer than any one person should. Lost an insane number of games of bags and even more games of darts. Found a second family. Created more bits that I thought humanly possible with the funniest people ever. And lost my weight in sweat at least two times over.
I will cherish these memories forever and I wish that I could have gotten pictures with all the wonderful people I got to hang out with this summer. I cannot wait to work with you all again down the line. Until we meet again. ❤️❤️

Thank you all for the core memories ⛰️💜
Getting to be a part of the 75th szn has been an honor! Working with so many talented artists, getting to be dance captain/pushing myself , and spending nights laughing till I cried. Being on the hill have been the best summers of my life, and I’m thankful to have crossed paths with all of you 🌱
