An impressive crew of 11 braved the cold and fierce tide 🌊 in Morro Bay with 5 AG podiums (6 if you count baby boy Rutford) and 2 slots to Worlds in Taupo!

On the other side of the country, @thewizardofportland and @molivolo ripped it up in Chattanooga!

Lots of people asking me details about the @tririg Scoops Ultimate SL setup on the @trekbikes Speed Concept. Here’s what we used:

1. @aerocoach Ascalon adapters for the Speed Concept Disc
2. TriRig Scoops Ultimate SL
3. Use the M6 bolts that come with the Scoops
4. You’ll need four corresponding M6 nuts
5. Tighten it all down (the holes line up nicely) in your preferred position and you’re good to go!

Might be one of the cleanest aerobar setups we’ve seen yet on a @trekbikes Speed Concept. We combined the @aerocoachuk adapters with some @tririg Scoops Ultimate’s which led to a very comfortable, and very aero, result! Don’t be a Drag!

We had a blast at Oceanside 70.3 with Fuelin’s 🦄 squad cheering on athletes! Discovering the perfect sports nutrition plan shouldn’t be as hard as finding a unicorn. Unlike a 🦄 the perfect nutrition plan does exist and when you find it, it’s magical! 🌈✨ Swim, bike, run towards your dreams with the perfect nutrition plan from ⛽️ Fuelin! 🏊🚴🏃

Losing weight whilst training?
A Fuelin Unicorn?
Possible?
Yes

However, you should be aware that it will likely compromise your performance.

In the short term, this is acceptable if you plan for it. We understand and appreciate a lot of athletes often desire to lose some body fat and weight. What we want to emphasise is that it should be controlled, and planned. The caloric deficit does not have to be extreme and you can still eat to support your training.

Be purposeful, be focused and have a plan. Talk with your coach, chat with us or your nutrition support team and do it properly.

Andrew gives a great race debrief for Oceanside. He won 🥇 his AG

“The race really started for me a couple days before, when the Fuelin app told me to start reducing fiber. Things heated up from there with a 650g carb day the day ahead of the race.

Thanks to all the race prep session, I knew exactly what I was going to eat and how it would feel the following morning.

About 15 mins before I hit the water, I consumed a NeverSecond c30 gel. I felt strong in the swim and not weighed down by all the carbs I had already consumed.

The bike course at Oceanside is beautiful, until you look closer at the road. Last year, I lost a bottle with 90g of carbs when I went over some rough terrain. My goal for the bike was to finish between 2:10 and 2:25, depending on conditions, meaning I needed to carry 300g of carbs. I had two bottles of NeverSecond c90 (90g carbs/200mg sodium each) and four NeverSecond c30 gels (30g carbs each). I also had one bottle of Precision Fuel & Hydration 1000. Around the 1:30 mark, I consumed some caffeine pills (~125mg) and swiss RX nitric oxide.

On the run, I carried a bottle of PH 1000 for the first 5k. Original plan was to sip that bottle through 10k but I could tell I needed more hydration to keep my legs from cramping. After polishing off that bottle, I switched to PH salt pills and two cups of water at each aid station, one from the first table and one from the last.

Nutrition wise, I left T2 with 5 NeverSecond c30 gels. I consumed one roughly every 15 mins beginning at the 10 min mark. I dealt with some minor hamstring cramping that I believe could have been resolved with my hydration while on the bike. The run took me about 1:23mins and I consumed 168g of carbs during that time.

I finished with a time of 4:20, a seven minute improvement from last year. I won my AG and was the fifth overall amateur.

For a variety of reasons, this race didn’t go exactly as I had planned but my nutrition wasn’t one of them. This is the third race I’ve done using Fuelin. I’ve gone from being stressed about nutrition in my first race to it now being on autopilot and just muscle memory in my most recent. I’m incredibly proud of this progress.”
