‘The night before Halloween, @hotgirls4zohran threw a party. Hot Girls for Zohran is a grassroots initiative, unaffiliated with the official campaign but happily endorsed by the man himself (the model and actor Emily Ratajkowski posted a selfie with him in which she was wearing one of the group’s ubiquitous shirts). Its events struck a chord with the demographic Mamdani is most successful with, educated young Brooklynites.

‘At the Hot Girls Halloween party, hosted at a hip Bushwick hotel, I saw several Charli XCX costumes beside someone dressed as Sliwa in his signature red beret, and spoke to a couple – tech workers – who had moved from San Francisco. They, like many others at the party, told me that they had canvassed during the primary but less so for the general election: “Greenpoint is overrun,” the woman told me. “They literally are begging us to stop showing up there.”

‘Not everyone was there with earnest civic-minded intentions; an overconfident young man finishing his PhD approached me as I bought a $15 “Hot Girl elixir” – vodka, lime and cranberry. I asked what brought him to the party and whether he had campaigned for Mamdani. “No,” he said. “I just saw someone I knew was going and that it had ‘Hot Girls’ in the title. Anyway, what’s your situation?”’

Had the best time in Trieste, Italy for the @urbanphotoawards @triestephotodays Festival, and Photo Fringe! 📸

A huge thank you to @panificio_cadenaro for the solo exhibition in the warmest and most welcoming pastry shop in town. ☕🍰 It was a dream come true to walk in and see my series “Neon in the Rain— Chilbi Nights” across the entire shop!

Special thanks to @andyxhall for the inspiring photo walk, and to all the incredibly talented photographers I had the pleasure of meeting.

Thanks to my good friend and travel buddy @johanna_sargeant for capturing some sneaky pics of me.

And of course, big gratitude to the festival organizers (@l_elaisa_ ) and everyone who made this amazing event possible. Feeling inspired and grateful! 🙏

The Guardian’s got Hot Shots covered:

Lorna Masters, who plays for Hot Shots United, said the tournament had been “absolutely incredible”. “Watching the Lionesses in the last Euros was so inspiring, it’s given us all a boost to get behind them again – to see how Sarina Wiegman works with her super subbing, she’s done it all over again,” she added.

Masters said that in the tense knockout stages – as England battled their way to the final – “pubs have been full, people have been screaming, getting really passionate”.

Growing up, she encountered lots of barriers to playing football: it wasn’t available for girls in PE, she had to travel two hours for tournaments from her home town of Oxford and women’s games were given worse time slots. “Whereas now people are really excited about women’s football. How cool would that have been when we were kids?” she said.
