Latest work for @kivestudio. Ctrl+Save, 2026.

Nearly a year in the making. 11 days occupying the historic Farmers & Merchants Bank in Downtown LA, repurposing its banking halls and underground vaults into a network of installations and programs as intervention.

This was a chance to explore some longstanding interests in technological reproduction, systems of control, interface design, and the politics of archiving.

Forever grateful for the opportunity to work with this group of artists, and for everyone involved in the making of this.

Held in the underground pit of Art/Space 114, the seminar moved beyond the format of a traditional panel, inviting audience members to contribute words, questions, and images through a participatory interface via smartphone. These contributions formed a live visualization of the room’s collective consciousness, with ideas accumulating, intersecting, and forming new associations on-screen, creating a collective record of the discussion.

New Tools for the Metanoia Period, 2026

An exploration of the relationships between embodied perception, primitive technologies, and computational intelligence. Drawing connections between the nervous system as a decentralized network, organic matter, and artificial systems, Freedan examines how the body interacts with its environment and how these interactions inform our understanding of intelligence. The work considers volcanic matter and other living materials as forms of post-semantic intelligence, tracing their connections to contemporary computational systems and proposing alternative ways of understanding technology beyond the human-made.

Ritual Object 1, 4, 5, 6 / Ritual Diagram, 2025–2026

A series of replicated forms inspired by Bronze Age ritual and sacrificial objects, examining how symbolic associations persist across time and cultural contexts. While these archetypes may hold little explicit meaning in contemporary life, they continue to resonate through inherited and esoteric systems of understanding. Freedan explores how such objects acquire, retain, and lose significance, and how contemporary archetypes can be controlled, revered, or disempowered. Ritual Diagram extends this inquiry by mapping the relationships between objects, archetypes, and the systems of meaning through which they become legible.

What can be saved, and what can’t?

This October, Kive Studio presents Ctrl+Save, a group exhibition asking how systems of control shape perception, participation, and what gets preserved. Across the above-ground gallery and subterranean vaults of Downtown Los Angeles’ former Farmers & Merchants Bank @artspace114 , seven artists trace the relationships we form with these systems — when they feel distant, when they become responsive, familiar, even intimate — and whether understanding those terms can create room for more autonomy.

Named for the keyboard command that promises permanence, Ctrl+Save frames preservation as an exercise of power, examining the gap between preserving an experience and preserving what made it meaningful. The exhibition creates conditions for systems of control to be encountered at close range, where their terms can be questioned and negotiated.

Learn the fundamentals of jewelry assembly through meditative action. This workshop introduces a creative & executional process based on self-awareness and the history of adornment as a form of communication.

Through the prompt Ephemera, in addition to provided materials, attendees will be asked to bring jewelry or found objects of significance to be incorporated into a new synesthetic* creation for yourself or a loved one.

Synesthesia: a cross-sensory neurological phenomenon. Its role in this practice is to help participants introduce exploring memory and other sensorial attributes through physical forms.

The workshop will be led by @ang5l__, a Los Angeles–based sculpture, performance, and mixed-media artist who whose research-driven practice explores atypical communication, anthropology, and psychological archetypes, materializing as somatic essays aimed to observe the architecture of collective consciousness.

Thank u @wonzimer and @therealalaia for including me, thanks for photo mei 🫶🏼🫂 @frandids, for flowers cen and jaustin :)) and for all the love from everyone cominn to my first big gallery show, so in awe showing alongside so many talented artists, 43 of them!!!

This painting is an homage to Guan Yin, who i’ve become closer with in the past couple months. I’ve found myself drawn to her simple, seemingly factual divine grace and elegance, having no need to express any sense of an egoic self.. she embodies a kind of compassion for all people that I found to be so potent, so impactful. She makes me want to do my best to follow her example 🪷🪷🫶🏼🌅
