Thank you to everyone who filled the room last week. The arts aren’t a “nice to have”—they’re an essential part of Central Ohio’s social and economic infrastructure.

Our panel of arts and civic leaders broke down how shared data, cross-sector evaluation, and creative collaboration are delivering measurable outcomes for the region.

Just before Thanksgiving break, our CCA 308 - Policy and Advocacy in the Arts class enjoyed a day trip to Columbus to learn from industry professionals. After enjoying a tour of the @wexarts, students participated in a lunchtime career panel followed by an insightful meeting with Senator Andrew Lang regarding arts policy (and even an introduction on the Senate floor!)

Thank you to our panelists for their valuable career insight, including: Lynette Shy of @confluenceartssolutions, Priscilla Teixeira of @columbusfashionacademy, Donald Wells of Wells CPA, Julia Noulin-Merat of @opera.columbus, Jennifer Lehe of @columbusmuseum, and Emily Oilar of @wexarts.

Want to experience opportunities like this? CCA 308 still has spots available for next semester!

The arts are more than inspiration—they’re civic infrastructure.

This week, we’re bringing together cultural leaders, data experts, and civic partners to explore how the arts drive workforce readiness, economic development, public health, and community well-being across Central Ohio.

This forum will spotlight the Central Ohio Arts Impact Initiative and a growing regional movement to position the arts as essential to our social and economic future.

Featuring:
• Dr. Kimberlee Goodman (McConnell Arts Center)
• Angela Meleca (Meleca Creative Advisors)
• Priscilla R. Tyson (Priscilla Tyson Consulting)
• Moderator: Sheri Chaney Jones (SureImpact)

Want to dive deeper ahead of the conversation? Columbus Metropolitan Library recommends Run It Like a Business by Aubrey Bergauer (2024).

OAPN had an incredible time at @midwestartsxpo! Our days were jam-packed (15 hours, to be exact!) with awesome showcases, insightful professional development sessions, and the best part—reconnecting with friends old and new.

We were so busy soaking it all in that we couldn’t even post in real time… but trust us, this conference was one for the books! 💫

Thank you, @alabama_arts for a much needed annual Bill Bates Leadership retreat. It is a privilege to be supported as an arts administrator in this state. Can’t wait to unpack @angelapmeleca ‘s message and approach to arts fundraising with @_oliviapurdy and @m_shirls. Since my back issue denied me my favorite annual hike with @marciaw.freeland it was a great chance to try my hand at quilting! Here’s my creation as proof. I seriously have visions of starting to gather used textiles and break out my grandmother’s old machine…. Who knows? @heatherbaumbachart heatherbaumbachart , thank you for getting me through the weekend with your back pain advice. You’ll laugh out loud to know that I abandoned the chair pillow because my legs dangled freely when sitting on it! Thank you to the @fantasypcta team for making it easy to step away 💜 #shortpeopleproblems #alabamacouncilonthearts #campmcdowell #billbatesleadershipinstitute #beginnerquilter #nonproflife #childrenstheatre

✨ Introducing the Collaborative Arts Impact Initiative Cohort! ✨

Over the next 20 days, we’ll spotlight each of the incredible arts organizations participating in the Collaborative Arts Impact Initiative (CAII) pilot program.

These organizations are stepping up to revolutionize how we measure the arts—going beyond audience counts and budgets to capture the social, emotional, and leadership skills fostered through the arts.

Today’s Spotlight: @christyfarnbauch

@thecontemporaryohio is joining CAII to measure its impact in real-time, creating data that will ultimately turn its impact into investment.

This pioneering pilot empowers arts nonprofits to show the world the holistic value of the arts in our communities.
