KOIS GLASSES x PORCELAIN VENEERS The first of a series of smile design cases. HOT TAKE: Smile design is NOT drawing random tooth outlines over teeth. It ALWAYS starts with the face: lip dynamics, facial reference points (horizontal and vertical) relative to anterior teeth, side profile, facial thirds and average tooth sizes/proportions. In this case, the patient felt the left front tooth looked too long. But the real question is: was that tooth actually too long, or were the other teeth too short? Where should the incisal edge be? That’s where the Kois Facial Reference Glasses help. They give us a more standardised way to take photos, standardised reference points to measure, and a systematic way to design the smile to suit the face. This leads to more predictable and reliable results, regardless of what patient walks through the door. ————————————————— Treatment: 8 Porcelain Veneers/Crowns (Zirconia) After photos are taken 2 weeks post insertion of final veneers. Most before and after smile makeovers shown on social media are only one or two weeks old. Longevity depends on proper treatment planning, bonding protocols, technique and craftsmanship. It is important for us to learn how to produce predictable results from studying our work over the long term. It shows the importance of photography and creating a happy environment of trust in your dental practice so that your patients stay loyal to you for that long. This is a 16 year follow-up of 8 veneers that we did in 2010. You can see I've gotten a new camera since then 😅. Be sure to check out the @coursekarma Summit on March 21st where I will be speaking on Conservative Aesthetic Dentistry for the Long Term. Thank you to @chris_ramsey_dmd and @adamoelvis for getting this trend started again. 15 Years Later and Still Flawless. ✨ When we talk about a Full Mouth Reconstruction, we aren’t just looking for a "Hollywood smile" for a few months. We are looking for health, stability, and a result that stands the test of time. This patient is in her 80s now but besides a bit of gum recession, the margins are stable, the function is perfect, and most importantly—the patient is still smiling with confidence. Investing in your oral health is a lifelong journey. We don’t just build smiles for today; we build them for a lifetime. #FullMouthReconstruction #RestorativeDentistry #15YearFollowUp #yycdentist #calgarydentist Beautiful ceramics @aurumgroup Material by @ivoclar.na The possibility to improve a person's perception of themselves...To make a positive impact on their daily life... TEACHING IS A PRIVILEGE and I never take it for granted. Having dentists sacrifice their work and family time to come learn from me and my teaching partners @drpareshshah and @dmdsunny is something that I cherish and honour. Looking forward to many more opportunities to educate, befriend, and elevate our skills and knowledge. These are images from our Elevate Dentistry Anterior Aesthetics Masterclass in Calgary. A 3 day intensive course teaching veneer workflow including rapid prep and rapid cementation techniques. A live patient demo was done on Day 3 @aestheticdentalstudio where it took 45 minutes to prep 10 veneers smoothly and accurately. DM to learn more about our courses. @elevate_dentistry #dentaleducation #dentalveneers #aestheticdentistry A big thank you to our sponsors @curiondental @ivoclar.na @henryscheincan @henryscheincalgary @solventumdental @dentalcorp.ca

This week I had the privilege to teach an incredible group of dentists from across Canada with my teaching partners @dmdsunny and @drpareshshah . Our Anterior Aesthetics Veneer Mastership course consisted of 3 days of intensive workshops and hands on exercises as well as a live patient demonstration of the preparation of 10 veneers @aestheticdentalstudio . Our class learned rapid and accurate preparation and cementation techniques . The preparation of 10 teeth took 45 minutes! We also did a photography workshop and discussed case presentation, treatment planning, marketing/branding, and how to create a niche cosmetic practice. Most importantly, we welcomed new friends to our @elevate_dentistry community! Thank you to our generous sponsors @curiondental @solventumdental @ivoclar.na @henryscheincan If you'd like to learn more about our courses please DM me. Next up: Calgary Oct31/Nov 1. A case of missing upper lateral incisors resulting in a smaller maxilla relative to the mandible, leading to a functional shift and Class III malocclusion. The patient was first deprogrammed to establish a true maxillo-mandibular relationship and just in case posterior teeth have had compensatory movements. Clear aligners were then used to maintain this relationship while creating space for the lateral incisors. The case was then completed with ceramic restorations to replace the missing teeth with intermediary steps to build shape gums for the pontic sites. ——————————————————————————— This content is provided for general educational purposes only and does not constitute medical or dental advice.
