I’ve been enjoying putting on my producer hat lately, not as a music producer, but by giving talented people I know work to help me express a creative vision. I play a lot of instruments myself on my music, but I always love when I get to write for better musicians like @caleb.gomes.music , who killed the French horn on this song. Then, I wanted to feature my friend @animator.y because he’s got such a classic style of hand drawn animation that I really felt captured the playful and vintage vibe of the song. His caricature of Caleb is so cute. He animated on twos AND he took the time to animate the fingering accurately! Come on!! Hire him! Last, but certainly not least, I keep seeing @ivuomahall doing all these great graphic design projects and I want to collaborate with her like this as much as I can before she gets too busy as a full time graphic designer. She not only designed the cover of the album, but did the motion graphics in this video. Love her! Hire her! “Winter Warm up” which original featured in Lifetime movies like “The Heiress of Christmas”, “Secretly Santa”, and “Saying Yes to Christmas” is available to stream as a single on all music streaming platforms! #2danimation #christmassong #handdrawnanimation #motiongraphics #frenchhorn #composer

At CTN I got to meet (and due to the crowd’s low numbers) make great FaceTime with one of my animation idols: Andreas Deja! He’s been a huge supporter of CTN and good for him with his scholarship in wanting to give back all the knowledge he was given from the Master’s of the past. It was an honor and privilege to be amongst his company and to “hold my own” in conversation as we discussed Disney films/characters, animators, etc. was a dream come true. Even when being told we had to leave due to the staff trying to lockup the building for the night was a hilarious moment. From being around him those few days was far greater than watching and listening to him via video interviews over the years and the live and passion for the craft is to this day strong as it was for him at his origins. Another few moments are also very burned in my brain; him going over my pencil test and discussing what works/changes and tweaks, etc. knowing his love for the 9Old Men and looking (actually touching) their work to pinpoint the artist by their linework, gesturing with open arms for me to sit across him for breakfast was certainly a “Good Morning!” I’ve never had before. The last one was when I had asked him to sign my Illusion of Life. As with everyone else, Andreas was stumped as not knowing what to write. I then suggested and said “What did Woolie Reitherman write in your copy?” He then got to writing and commented on how he felt when Woolie said those words to him and I certainly feel the same in regard to Andreas and his body of work. Also another core element of the trio was making great new relationships with fellow contestants and artists in all mediums, but with one love for animation! On the last day, we were all given champagne and a few of us toasted with him to the future of hand drawn animation! Def a trip I’ll never forget! #ctn #andreasdeja #disney #disneyanimation #animation #2danimation #2d #handdrawnanimation #handdrawn #traditionalanimation #drawing #animating #disneylegend #california #friends #travel #fun #memories #rogerrabbit #gaston #jafar #characterdesign #theillusionoflife #nineoldmen #artist #artists #love #smile #instagood #networking
