ANMARIE-PAULE LEGAULT - 3RD YEAR SPOTLIGHT: @anmarielegault « A » (she/they/he) is a multidisciplinary artist from Montreal, Canada. Trained in a variety of dance styles such as commercial, hip hop, contemporary, fusion, waacking, house and more, they aim to use their whole movement background to create characters, tell stories and embody themes. Drag artist under the name Walter Ego and CAPSLOCK?!, their artistic universe includes interests in makeup, fashion, performance and live arts, and a kinship to human connection and expression as a whole. A possesses an interest for sharing their creativity and knowledge, which they have been able to offer others through 15 years of teaching dance. Proudly queer, they wish to scream for those who can't. 📸Photo by: @yaniksavoie Inner Piece: Inner Piece is an exploration of the nervous system, and of ways to attempt to calm it down from a state of activity into a state of calm and rest, in other words, to help it go from sympathetic to parasympathetic. Using different somatic modalities, it is a lense into A's practice of self-soothing, a testament to leaning on others and an ode to liberating movement. It offers a perspective of a world view where the gaze is softened, and the perception of time, space, others and ourselves is approched with a feeling of ease. Dancers tagged

Swirling in the harmonies and grateful for all the beauties who hold my hand, trim my bangs, tune my guitar, have a dance battle to my new song, write me secret notes, bloom in splendour around me

This reflection stirred up more emotion than I expected. Because I realized I was looking at the highlights ~ the moments captured, shared & celebrated. But that’s never the full story. What you don’t see are the quiet moments: the self-doubt, the second-guessing, the “am I on the right path?” questions... The inner work. The healing that went deeper than I thought I was ready for... And the version of me that emerged ~ softer, clearer, and more anchored ~ ready to guide others through my teaching and coaching. Growth isn’t just the polished moments. It’s the good, the uncomfortable, and yes… the messy parts too. Even if I don’t show all of it, know this: it was there. And choosing how to meet it, learn from it, and move forward is what shaped this year. So let me ask you: 💭 Are you only giving yourself credit for the highlights… or are you honoring the quiet growth happening behind the scenes? If this resonates, pause for a moment and acknowledge yourself ~ then tell me in the comments: what lesson are you carrying into the next season? ✨️
