Some challenges mean so much more than what they seem.✨

My first solo competition at the @canadasalsaandbachatacongress was a roller coaster of emotions, growth, hard work, and so many beautiful moments. I started a solo during a time of major changes in my life, and somewhere along the way, it became so much more than just dance. It became a way to reconnect with myself, grow through change, and discover a strength within me I didn’t know I had. It pushed me out of my comfort zone and taught me to trust myself in a whole new way.

And to walk away with two 2nd-place finishes and a 3rd place in my very first solo competition at a congress of this caliber? My heart is FULL. 🥹🏆

Beyond the results, I’m proud of the work, the courage and every single woman I had the privilege of sharing this experience with. So much love for my coach @mariievaaa (who’s guidance made it possible) , for my fellow competitors, and everyone who made this first experience so special. ❤️

This chapter means so much to me, but it’s only the beginning. More to learn, more to build, more to give.
The medals are a moment. The growth is forever. And we’re just getting started. 🔥

I’m just out here defying the odds! 💞
44 years old, dancing salsa for only 1.5 years… and now competing in a NATIONAL competition @canadasalsaandbachatacongress 😱💪🏽🔥

I LOVE social dancing….. babyyyy give me music and I’m throwing it down! 😅💃🏽 ! Social dancing is truly my happy place but with crippling anxiety, performing & competing was not on my bucket list…. And yet… HERE I AM 💪🏽💪🏽

To my Maestro @edsonvallon : thank you for creating a safe space for me to grow, make mistakes, and evolve at lightning speed. You allow me to show up as myself, authentically & unapologetically so 🥹🙏🏽 Your impact on my life is beyond words 💞🙏🏽 Blessings on blessings to you my brother! Love you lots!

To anyone scared to try something new:
DO NOT LET circumstances, setbacks, or fear define you. Put your crown on, add some flavour to your steps, and get comfortable with being uncomfortable because babyyyy that’s where greatness lives. ✨

Ouuuuuu AGAINST ALL ODDS…. WE DID IT!!! @aikyharolahy 🔥
The cards were stacked against us… and yet, just like the rose that grew from the concrete, WE BLOOMED.

- I’m a 44-year-old single mom of 4
- I’m 20 years older than my partner Aiky 😱
- We put this routine together in just 2.5 months
- We have never performed this routine in a show, WE BROKE IT IN at the National competition @canadasalsaandbachatacongress (😅 we clearly live on the wild side lol)
- I’ve only been dancing for 1.5 yrs, and Aiky for 2 yrs ! 😱

Are we perfect? NO! We have so much room to grow. But this is proof that hard work, consistency, and dedication PAY OFF 🔥💪🏽🫡.

To all moms, single moms, & my over-40 ladies… LIFE IS NOT OVER!!! Keep your head held high, take the bull by the horns, and go after what sets your soul on fire 🗣️💞
If I am a testament to anything, let it be this: GET OUT THERE AND LIVE!!! 🔥🔥

Infinite gratitude to my partner @aikyharolahy …. Brother, WE DID IT!!! We fucking did it!!!! Thank you for thinking of me for this project and for always being such a motivating force behind our duo. What a journey, mannnn!!! 🙌🏾

Officially National Bachata Champions! 🏆

This choreography definitely pushed our dancing to the next level, and challenged us to do things we didn’t think we could 🇨🇴❤️🇨🇦

First of all, I want to thank my partner @caitclement for the immense discipline and commitment you brought to this project, for all your support, and for the incredible experiences we shared. This achievement is entirely yours—only the two of us know how much work went into making this happen. Congratulations on becoming a professional dancer; you deserve this more than anyone. ❤️

I am also deeply grateful to my mentor @juliancalderon.c I have learned so much from you, and you believed in me even when I didn’t believe in myself. Dancing by your side and learning from you has been an absolute honor, and we had so much fun along the way. 🇨🇴🙏🏼

A final thank you to @sacha_fomina for co-creating this choreography with Julian, for teaching me all the crazy lifts and tricks, and for supporting our journey from day one. Thank you to @luc.poulin.7 for always keeping up with us and guiding us to be better dancers. 💫

It was never my dream to become a dancer—or a national champion, to be honest. I just wanted to play soccer hahaha ⚽️

But looking back, I can see how this journey completely shaped my life. I am endlessly grateful for the hard work we put in, everything I’ve learned over the last three years, and every single person and teacher who supported us along the way. 🙏🏼
