The Love Hypothesis ~ honest review loading 𓍼

I watched it two days ago with my friend who had read the book in 2022-23 and I in 2023-24. So both of us didn't remember much, nothing beyond the gist of the story. Scenes went by and we'd get a flashback of reading it but that's about it.

We both had made a conscious decision to not reread prior to watching the film and I think that's why we enjoyed it so much. This movie was genuinely awesome.

I was excited for this since last year when we first got the news of it solely because of how good Lili Reinhart and Rome Bateman wwre as Olive and Adam respectively. They were insaaaaaaneee to say the least.

The chemistry was through the roof, Olive was so perfect in her dorky mannerisms and Adam with his stoic persona.

Other than that, I also really liked the casual and subtle shift from awkward fake dating to actually developing feelings for one another. I've heard a lot of people say the film was rushed and that this should've been a season but I genuinely didn't feel like that.

What I did mind was the final confession between Olive and Adam. That was what felt rushed to me. Books have more depth, more feelings and you definitely don't finish them in 2 hours so a month long dating plan feels longer and falling in love at the end of it more understandable and plausible.

But because of it being a movie, the "love" confession didn't really hit for me. Had they confessed to liking or having deep feelings for one another, that would've worked. As an adamant adaptation hater, I actually would've liked this detail changed to suit the film.

But now I'm gonna reread the book, also because of the second part coming out and then I'm gonna rant with my friend over how disappointed I am and how I hate it now 🥲

What did you all think, I really wanna know!!

and it just so happens that it's been a while since I read the first one so I'll have to jog my memory up by rereading. I really be living that "reading for the first time again" dream honestly 🥲
