// I’m truly happy and grateful to receive a nomination at the Icelandic Music Awards for my score to Where Is Jón? The music is nominated as “Release of the Year” in the Film & Theatre Music category — a small victory in itself, that music from a podcast series made it into that category! I want to thank Anna Marsibil Clausen and Liam O’Brien, RÚV in Iceland and RTÉ Ireland, as well as Jón’s family for trusting me with this delicate project. Extra special thanks to the only hired musician on the score, Unnur Jónsdóttir, whose beautiful cello playing lent wings to the music. Lastly congratulations to all fellow nominees and thank you to the Icelandic Music Awards, for the pat on the back. Much appreciated. #ístón2026

One of the most captivating projects I worked on in 2025. In 2019, Jón Þröstur Jónsson travelled from Iceland to Dublin — and disappeared within 24 hours of arriving. He has not been seen since. Where Is Jón? is an investigative podcast series produced by RTÉ and RÚV, examining what happened during those final hours and why so many questions remain unanswered. Investigative journalists Anna Marsibil Clausen and Liam O’Brien worked closely with Jón’s family and police authorities in both countries, piecing together a timeline and pointing out some overlooked details which led to the case being reopened. The score had to provide suspense to help the listener engage with the narrative but at the same time - out of respect for Jón and his family - I wanted to steer clear of oversensationalising the subject. Where Is Jón? is available on RTÉ and RÚV and all major podcast platforms. #WhereIsJón #InvestigativePodcast #TrueCrime #PodcastMusic #composerlife

🎙️ Where are they now? Alum Anna Marsibil Clausen (‘18) is the head of podcasts for the Icelandic National Broadcaster RÚV. Her latest is an investigative podcast series called Where is Jón? When Icelander Jón Jónsson flew into Dublin in February 2019, he was in good spirits and looking forward to playing at the Dublin Poker Festival. However, within just 24 hours, Jón walked out of his hotel and disappeared. So what happened to him? Anna Marsibil Clausen and Liam O'Brian investigate this baffling case in a new multi-episodic series from public broadcasters RÚV in Iceland and RTÉ in Ireland where finally, years later, new clues start to emerge. ***Link in bio*** Clausen writes, produces, hosts, edits and commissions audio work of all shapes and sizes, and sometimes takes on helping international media navigate Icelandic waters, most recently @serialpodcast and the New York Times for their six-part series "The Good Whale" that tells the story of the experiment to return Keiko, star of the movie “Free Willy,” to the ocean. She lives in Reykjavík. #proud @ucberkeleyofficial #newpodcast #audioproducer #iceland #truecrimepodcast

When Jón Jónsson flew into Dublin in February 2019, he was in good spirits and looking forward to playing at the Dublin Poker Festival. However, within just 24 hours, Jón walked out of his hotel and disappeared. I had the opportunity to write music for this investigative podcast series, a collaboration between RTÉ in Ireland and RÚV Iceland, led by Liam O’Brien and Anna Marsibil Clausen. New leads and exclusive information shared by Jón’s family and friends sheds new light on the case and will hopefully lead to new information about the mysterious disappearance of Jón. Where is Jón is available on Apple podcast, Spotify and other podcast platforms.

The podcast series WHERE IS JÓN? will be released into the world later this month. It’s an investigation of the mysterious disappearance of Jón Þröstur Jónsson - an Icelandic poker player who vanished without a trace in Dublin in 2019. It’s a joint effort between RTÉ Documentary on One and RÚV, led by the investigative team of Liam O’Brien and Anna Marsibil Clausen - who collaborated closely with Jón’s family. Almost 6 years into the dissappearance the case still remains unsolved - but the podcast brings new information and insights before the public’s eye - in the hope that it might lead to new clues in the case. I was trusted with the task of writing the music for this series, which is probably the most moving podcast story that I’ve ever listened to. Subscribe from wherever you get your podcasts. Starts January 27th.
