The sun is shining, the heat is turning up, meaning summer is finally here! Last week we had a cracking fun evening at the VECTIV footwear testing with @jamesdpoole. 13km of beautiful hidden trails in North London through New River Walk, into the ancient forest of Parkland Walk and Highgate Wood and ending with views of the city from Alexandra Palace with a cheeky refreshing cold beer thanks to @michelobultrauk

REMINDER - We have one final event, so don't miss out on the chance to test the Flight VECTIV trail running shoes. @ellisbrigham are hosting an evening with the legend Ultra Runner and TNF Explorer Member @jamesdpoole. Learn trail running tips as well as tales from the trails ⛰️

Monday 14th June at 7pm, 8km loop around Richmond. Session is £5 (includes soft/alcoholic drink).

Who’s seen the trees we’ve started planting in central London!?

This week, we’ve started our new movement: #PLANTSAGAINSTPOLLUTION to help runners, cyclists and pedestrians avoid air pollution in the Big Smoke.

Together with Imperial College London, we’ve spent the last year plotting real-time data over where the cities’ runners and cyclists have been exercising, to stage our interventions where it’s needed most.

If you’re from London, where do you think needs some plants against pollution next?

Last group run with the @sealskinzinsta team. Managing my own expectations for lockdown, it’s going to on way beyond December.⁣
⁣
2020 hasn’t been the year for commitments or planning. Races were always going to be touch and go. Cancellation announcement from @camino_ultra this week was a welcomed one. Under Corona’s circumstances, I can’t complain as there’s bigger things going on in the world than racing.⁣
⁣
Be good, be safe and enjoy the fews weeks home staycation. See you on the other side 🖖⁣

As it’s been a tough couple of weeks for us Nigerians #EndSARS, I needed this run to channel all the anxiety I was feeling.
_
I attended a ~10km trail run in Dorking where I got to try out some of @sealskinzinsta’s products - ideally for the cold and wet ‘British’ weather.
_
Despite it being a dry and ‘sunny’ day, I managed to find not one, but three puddles plus a bucket of water to put their waterproof socks to the test 😄. They did not disappoint.
_
Hat and gloves also gifted by SealSkinz will have to wait for their own test days 🙃.

#tbt throwback to pre COVID time when we could enjoy a morning run with the @advent.running crew before sitting down for a coffee!
—
Still running in the hope those days will be back and we will enjoy sharing those miles again and get back in that nice routine. But to be honest with no event to train for, or knowing that it will most likely be cancelled can be hard sometimes.
—
🤞hopefully, a solution will be found sooner rather than later to cope with that global pandemic and we will be able to enjoy being a team again!

Now more than ever is a time for a little joy and gratitude. Of several things that didn't exactly go to plan this year, my hopes of going to Boston to participate in arguably the most iconic marathon of all time disappeared in April as Covid did it's unfortunate thing.

I may not get to go to Boston this year, but after the best four months training of my life, with a lot of help from some wonderful friends, I can bring the spirit of Boston to Victoria Park tomorrow. And that is something beautiful.

Borrowing some inspiration from @sethjamesdemoor I'm going to write three words on my arm tomorrow morning to get me through the race.

Smooth - how I plan to run

Tennessee - in honour of my fellow RATs who this summer came together from around the world and ran the virtual 1,000 Kms across Tennessee, raising more than $300,000 for great causes in the process

Nephice - the gender neutral term I've adopted for my first niece or nephew who I get to meet in about ten days time, to whom I'm going to dedicate my efforts tomorrow.

Good luck to everyone around the world running the #bostonmarathonvirtualexperience tomorrow from around the world. Let's run hard and have a blast doing it.

I could put some quote about living in the moment. Or making the most of the life you have🙏🏻. . .
However my 50th birthday 🎉wasn’t about me🦁, or coming up with the right quote or IG hashtags . . .
I spent the day running with friends, old and new, I talked, I listened, I laughed, I connected with those I love ❤️, even if I couldn’t be with them in person, and I appreciated every damm moment . . . And for that, I’m truly grateful🙏🏻
50 years, 50km, what a day🤩

Thanks to all those that supported me, ran with me, and messaged me from all over the 🌍. . . And to those special few who I love and accept me as I am ❤️, you know who you are🦁
•
And a massive shout out to @ultraxco and the crew. You guys are the best 👊🏻

“At times, our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us.” – Albert Schweitzer. 💖

Extremely grateful for my support network online and offline. Know that I am always here too if you need a shoulder or a helping hand ☺.
.
.
Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow. It motivates us not only to improve our own lot in life but also the circumstances of the people around us.
.
.
Have a blessed week, my friends🙏🏿😉

A tough @advent.running short & sharp session on Tuesday.
Gritted teeth by all.

Track Tuesday with @advent.running The main set consisted of 20 x 200m around the oval office. A tough session but these are the sessions that really pay off come race day. The ever increasing number of major racing events being cancelled is frustrating of course but we need to look at the bigger picture. Training continues, if and when race day does come round I aim to be as ready as I can be. All training cycles have ups, downs and obstacles to cross, it’s what makes us stronger both physically and mentally. It’s why we run, it’s why we love it so much. 📸 credit @jamesdpoole #adventrunning #tracktuesday #fallinlovewithrunning #whyirun #whyirunldn #heretocreate #adidasrunnersldn #adidasrunners #adidasterrex #adidasterrex #wearedaybreak #instarunners #runnersofinstagram #runningheroes #getinvolved #mileendstadium #track #halfmarathontraining #marathontraining #abbottworldmarathonmajors #worldmarathonmajors #sixstarchaser
