“The Melbourne Group” who went to Tenterfield for @carolynrobinsongardendesign Eagles Bluff Open Garden.

This beautiful bunch of plant-appreciating humans have all been connected to The Sentimental Gardener in different ways. From being guests, to answering my millions of questions, to giving their opinions, to being a friendly face at garden opens to all of them allowing me to immerse my senses in their glorious gardens.

It wasn’t just the views and gardens that moved me on the weekend. It is the generosity of spirit of each and everyone in this group plus an unspoken knowledge of what being in a space like Eagles Bluff, the living palette, means to us.

I’ve come away with shared memories of both fun and wonder and there’s already chatter about where the next adventure will be!

I’ve added a few new like-minded people to my garden group after this trip - the mastermind behind it all @annabellehickson and @carolynrobinsongardendesign

So - whenever you have an opportunity, pick a garden as an outing, invite some friends, explore new places together and get ready to have sore cheeks from smiling and laughing together.

And if you can’t, why not collect beautiful garden books … there’s a special one coming out in March by @galah.press celebrating the life, lessons and designs of @carolynrobinsongardendesign. Pre-order now at Galah’s website.

Glorious golden mornings. Thrilled to see the totally amazing garden of @annmaree.winter on @gardeningaustralia last night! Lots of us here I know have followed her beautiful garden for many years so it was super exciting to “ see Annie” in person and drone shots of her amazing garden from above to truly capture its size and absolute beauty. Congratulations Annie. It really was beautiful. ☘️

1. The sky threatened rain, but it behaved for us and made for a wonderful Saturday with friends.

Under the instruction of artist Gay Chatfield and located at Louise Brown’s picturesque property in Gruyère, we gathered to create baskets and garden sculptures from weaving willow and other materials with one sculpture already designated to hold up a droopy ‘Pierre De Ronsard’ rose.

Thank you for a wonderful day @gaychatfield + @yarravalley_stories

2. It’s so interesting to watch how everyone starts with the same materials, then the creativity starts flowing and we all end up with a unique creation.

3. When you find your people 🫶

4. A euphorbia in the foreground extending to beautiful views across the Yarra Valley

5. Teepees, sculptures or plant supports - all so unique and beautiful and I kind of think the wonkier the better!

6. Autumn makes way for winter which becomes an opportunity to use deciduous trees for our creations. It’s given me a whole new way to use my winter pruning.

7. Caption this: …..

8. My question was: “will this fit in your car!”
Yes, yes it did!

9. Genevieve with her rose support in progress.

10. Moments like this together allow all types of conversations to flow - like the one we had about her stick collection and how she makes sticks fences

11. It wasn’t all about the teepees - many of us made baskets too.

12. I took a sneaky wander through Louise’s glorious garden. Once you’ve spent a while taking in the spectacular view across the Yarra Valley, you need to turn your back and walk towards the house. There you’ll find vignettes of plants and pots, placed like works of art.

13. Oof. The moodiness of winter

14. Terracotta pots looking empty, but they’re just full of friends sleeping

15. The perfect example of how a winter garden doesn’t mean a bland garden Gay Chatfield Willow Weaving Flowerdale

This was our event, Twilight at the Winter Garden, and what a truly magical experience it was! Surrounded by the lush and beautiful @annmaree.winter and Paul’s gardens, every moment felt like stepping into a storybook from delicate blooms to peaceful pathways.
The day was filled with joy, laughter, and togetherness. We are so grateful to everyone who attended and made this event so special. Your smiles, energy, and love for nature truly brought the gardens to life!

We can’t wait to see you at our next event!
