Will you make room for a poem?

The second poem of our new series, Utterly Human: In Defense of the Imperfect, the Embodied, and the Creaturely, is live on Substack!

"Things We Will Eventually Ask Chat GPT" by @anotherhumanstory.

Thank you, Luana, for sharing this piece with us. It's an honor to feature your poetry.

Head to our Substack to read more about Utterly Human, a poetry series exploring what it means to hold onto what makes us human in a world where AI is encroaching on every facet of our lives.

Hold onto your art. Hold onto your loved ones. Hold onto your souls. It's more important now than ever.

Thank you for being part of the Arcana community. None of this happens without you. 💛

Reading your submissions for issue 3's theme of 'raw,' was truly an honour. It's so wonderful to read such human stories and I truly felt every word. It was so difficult to choose poets for our issue 3, but here they are:

What the tide takes
@thesubduedwords

Some loves don’t meet you halfway. Still… you stay, you feel, you return. Like tides that don’t know how to stop. Maybe that’s the hardest part not the distance, but how deeply you still care.

If this felt a little too familiar,
I see you. 🌊

Written using the prompts
“what the tide takes”
“the moon doesn’t ask”
from @poeticreveries_

and the line
“I am an ocean longing to swallow the moon that has never heard of a tsunami.”

Funeral for yesterday
@thesubduedwords

Some days, survival looks like flight.
Some days, healing looks like stopping.
This poem lives in that pause.

🌎My January Submission for @firstlinepoets

I am deeply grateful to @cate_mcminn
for the beautiful first line
“I’m having a funeral for yesterday.”

My heartfelt gratitude to @cate_mcminn (curator)
and @emmajanepoetry (founder) of the group
for holding space for words like these.

This piece is also inspired by the lyric prompts
shared by @anotherhumanstory using the song lyrics by Florence + the Machine -"Sky full of song"
