Row Roll Role 汪 🧻🐶

@mymothercalls initiated this short video project about her poem (see below) and had herself rolling different spots in London. A very fun project including all surreal and experimental visual elements.

Poem name:
the day an old white guy kept saying ROLLS to me when I introduced him the rolls the bakery I worked at sold and I realized I have never quite learned to roll my tongue because Cantonese does not do final consonants

This summer @ansoncheng.visuals and I were invited by @kltscorsese to film a documentary and to capture the behind-the-scene of @theatredelafeuille @atawong ‘s latest show ‘Fall and Flow’ in @festivaloffavignon Avignon and @edfringe Edinburgh. 🇫🇷 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

And here’s the highlight video of the performance! 🎭

1. Overall/Progressing Look
Sharing some of my creative thoughts of “A Road to A Village” after the TIFF screening @tiff_net

When you swipe right of the graded stills set, you may tell different scenes with varying moods, in the order of bright energetic to misery tragic moments (more like the film chronological order). From my understanding of the film, I decided the overall tone to be more organically rendered without over-imposing a specific colour, until the later half of the film when more conflicts arose. Developed with @dehancer.film on top of the base look.

More colour walkthroughs to be included in the upcoming posts.

No, I wasn’t naked.
Yes, I was shooting a film.
No, not that kind of film.

So much of the filming process goes unnoticed and thereby unappreciated. Some behind-the-scenes of this wonderful team. We bonded over choco pies.

.....Too many choco pies.....
