Spring is upon us! Gotta a lot going on this Friday 27/3 5-6pm - tune in live to Diasporic Connections @slacksradio hosting my friend Anthony Day (aka Good Vallis) who is a writer, sound artist, music enthusiast and record collector. He’ll be playing some 45s from his collection, particularly focussing on some of the more unusual examples of regional garage rock records from America in the mid-60s. I have no idea how to match that, ha ha but we will meet somewhere in the odd middle. 7-12pm - I’ll be playing tunes along with other great folks at the @byker.baithak party @thelubberfiend - an inspiring independent music night run by Rob & @omi_degwei expect rich range of music from all the corner of the world! “Baithak” is an Indian tradition of listening, enjoying & sharing music in an informal setting - which is such a lovely concept and resonates well with everything Diasporic Connections aims to echo too!

#outnow #sduplicator #bandcamp #hiphop #poetry This is like nothing you've heard before. It's a story with music, a literal 'telling', told by an assortment of voices. All are blended into a fragmentary soundscape stitched together from found sound, atmospheric recordings and samples. Hip-hop is a reference throughout. At times unsettling, at times sublime, this is the first solo release by Good Vallis (Anthony Day). It features the voice work of @nathalieboobis, @lewhenson, @michaelorrellphoto and @emilyfurneaux It's unlike anything else out there at the moment and Spirit Duplicator is delighted to release it. https://goodvallis.bandcamp.com/album/the-tellings

Belated let's celebrate #caturday with this special soul who took a tumble off a sixth floor balcony this week and made it home albeit it with some added metal hardware. Little miracle cat that he is. I always knew there was something magic about him ✨️❤️ #douglas #vetsareheroes #cats #arestupid #lucky #andnotofthisworld #longrecoveryahead #keepthatfeedingtubeinplease

We're going big for Bandcamp Friday / Week ⛓☝️ Firstly we have made the digital for all 20 of our releases 'Name Your Price' for one week which means you can pay nothing at all or throw us some bones for future releases. We're a small label with a lot of love and want as many people to hear our artists tracks, not to make our riches so go for it! Also 20% off all of our remaining physical stock, be it cassette, vinyl, lathes or the handsome new t-shirt. Use the code bcfridayfeb24 to get 20% for the next week. Due to the delay in physical production and postal strikes (we fully stand by our striking posties and all strikers looking for a fair living wage) the last 2 releases dropped just before Christmas and were a little overlooked. Please take some time to jump on the @lfdm_sku L/F/D/M - 'Quasi-Modo' 10" which is full of 1992 rave classics and Primal Scene @probablyemile - S/T album cassette of Industrial Bass weight. Enjoy the catalogue, loads more coming this year, share the love.

BC 11 - Lobrows - Jads This one came out of left field. Another face from a past of playing in punk / garage rock bands and having friends in common, I first met one half of Lowbrows, James @_timeron_ (The Pheremoans / The Sticks) at a show over a decade ago. Little did I know he was banging out insane acid hardware tracks as Timeron and online chats revealed he was doing a duo with @anton_dadd called Lowbrows who had made an EP of breakcore madness out of a single 60”s garage rock 7” by The Jads as the only source material. How could I not want to get this out there to the world? “Jim and Tony had been busy with preparations for something else when the weather turned badly. They were hoisted up in the shed for weeks waiting for a changing chance. They were like witnesses or hostages, they’d have said, if anyone would even have thought to ask. There was nothing much to do but learn how to operate the machines that were being stored there by the local Evangelical church. Not least as the machines blocked the hiding places. There was a small box of records but almost all had been soiled so they used them for fuel. The Jads wasn’t too bad -VG really- and so they used that as a test device for some of the machine functionalité. It was a few hours of arguing in total before they made songs and were rescued by someone claiming to have the answers. It felt weird being outside but they were not typical so the only thing that made them OK, I suppose, was using the machines and songs etc. It was a long night a few nights later and they fought everything threw.” Praises be to the Jads! Next are the Victors!

Although the world outside has gone to shit, it’s always music that makes every situation better. This year I decided that all my releases would be from friends or friends of friends rather than just artists I liked and reached out to. Stupid not to when you’re surrounded by people who make music like the 8 releases we dropped this year. Big love to everyone for joining the journey and those that are lined up for 2021. Shouts outs to @hotsalvation and @jamesburges for the help too xx
