Power House Books

@anthony_pappa @suburban_voice @powerhousebooks #livesuburbia #80sskate #80sheavymetal #80spunk

“Everything in my paintings and in my world is unstable, because that’s how I perceive life to be. Things are never just what they are; nothing feels solid to me at any given point, so that’s just built into the work. It’s all melding constantly, because there’s a sense that that’s how the world actually is, beneath the veil of illusion.”

People wanna hear someone say, “That guy’s badass and that guy is a kook.” It might not be the healthiest way forward, but it creates a feel and personality–an image. That’s where specialty has lost its course and it has to get back to that if it’s going to revive itself.

In My Eyes - Demo 7”

Late 90’s straight edge Youth crew.
Most of these songs were re-recorded for The Difference Between LP.
Perfect demo and LP!
Great aesthetics too…

Saw In My Eyes in 2000 (or 2001?) on tour with Cro-Mags and True Blue.
Sweet Pete was allready back in Boston, It didn’t live up to the hype.

“When I think about the old version of reality collapsing around us right now, I want to learn from these people–those who were or are good at building worlds that they would want to live in and worlds that are sustaining, cooperative, principled, and supportive to life. The idea that all so-called countercultural movements—again, that word is set up for failure–ultimately collapse or end badly, simply isn’t true.”

The impact of Jennifer Finch’s art will be felt for decades, but but the community work she did quietly cannot be measured. Sober since 1990, Finch espoused her “pay it forward” mentality by offering peer-to-peer work in Los Angeles with women transitioning from prison and getting clean. In her interview with Freeman she referred to this as “Keeping you alive so you don’t go do dead people stuff.” As an artist, musician, and empath, she gave so much and expected so little.
