It’s officially day 1 of the National Week of Solidarity to End Immigration Detention, and this is what we’ve been up to so far… If you’re planning an action, let us know so we can amplify it! 🔸 National Week of Solidarity flyers, NO MORE MIGRANT PRISONS petition leaflets, our pocket guide to immigration detention booklets, and our brand new whistles! Want to get your hands on these? Email Esther - esther@righttoremain.org.uk - and she’ll send them for free. 🔸 New merch for the National Week of Solidarity! WHISTLES! What colour are you choosing? 🔸 We were invited to speak at the launch of Taking Liberties: Detention, Reporting and Resistance. This exhibition, curated by Bail for Immigration Detainees and Migrants Organise, features art pieces by people with experience of detention. You can see the exhibition until January 2026 at @aplaceforchange - The Foundry, Oval, London. Head to or Migrants Organise or BID’s website for more details. 🔸 Another piece from Taking Liberties, looking at Capita’s contract for GPS tagging people on immigration bail. GPS ankle tags run by Capita let the Home Office track people on immigration bail 24/7, with no legal limit on how long someone can be tagged. The ICO found the Home Office failed to assess the privacy risks, and campaigners say the tags harm people’s physical and mental health. Capita has since lost the contract to Serco, but tagging itself hasn’t stopped. 🔸 As part of Balsall Heath Second Saturday monthly creative festival, we held a craft stall for families. Activities included arts and crafts, and to writing messages of hope to those who need them. 🔸 Some of the finished products at the craft stall! 🔸 We joined POMOC’s Unbreakable Threads workshop in Birmingham, where Polish artist Magdalena Jasiak guided participants through a session which brought together weaving, stories of migration and tradition from across Eastern Europe. 🔸 Stay tuned for more updates from the National Week of Solidarity! If you want to find out more, visit our website via our Linktree. #thesewallsmustfall #nooneisillegal

We have made some major changes to the Immigration Enforcement sections of our Key Guide on Immigration Enforcement: Reporting and Raids. 🔵 The updated guide includes clearer information about voluntary questioning and formal immigration powers, police and Immigration Enforcement working together, warrants and searches, phones and electronic devices, and what people can do during and after an enforcement operation. 🔵 We have also rewritten the Action Sections to make them easier to use during an enforcement situation based on what we are learning from anti-raids organising and what communities are experiencing on the ground. 🔵 Immigration enforcement continues to increase (Between January and June 2026, the Home Office carried out 7,270 illegal working visits and made 4,756 arrests – that’s an increase of 31% and 20% compared with the same period in 2025.) There has also been a new policy on illegal working for people living in asylum support, while the government is pushing ahead with plans to significantly expand the immigration detention estate. At the same time, access to legal advice in immigration detention has been recorded at an all-time low. Read the blog and Key Guide via the link in bio.

In the run up to the Weekend of Action to Break Up the Border next weekend, we'll be sharing info about the institutions, companies, profiteers and enforcers who make and enact the border, and the groups working to break it. We're starting off with Immigration Enforcement - those who carry out immigration raids in our communities, tearing people away from their families, friends, workplaces, and neighbours. While a lot of attention has been paid to the brutal tactics of ICE in the US, immigration raids in Britain have been also been ramped up in recent years, with the current Labour government using the spectacle for social media content to try (and fail) to appeal to a very online right wing minority. Their tactics may differ from those in the US (tho there have been consistent attempts over the years to emulate them), there is no 'nice' or 'moderate' way to rip someone from their home. Make no mistake, immigration enforcement is designed to terrorise our communities. Find your local anti raids group and get involved in local organising to resist this violence, or head to antiraids.net for info on how to start your own
