Slowest Wave by @abelinskaya Ice/water, Arthrospira platensis (blue spirulina), steel 50(h) × 60 x 40 cm This work emerges from my interest in extractivism and the material politics of natural resources. Motivated by research into polar ice drilling, it reflects on how fresh glacier water and natural cold are becoming some of the most precious resources of the near future and a ground zero for climate change Inspired by my visit to the British Antarctic Survey in Cambridge, the piece draws on real scientific and environmental processes. It explores themes of memory, fluidity, and fragility, highlighting the slow yet irreversible release of frozen archives of Earth’s climate data and the loss of fragments of glacier time: trapped air, fresh water, and microorganisms dating back up to 800,000 years The melting of ancient ice is a process that contributes to rising ocean levels, alters marine ecosystems by increasing water salinity in some areas and diluting it in others, and releases trapped greenhouse gases and ancient carbon dioxide. The exhibition considers what happens when communication moves beyond language: into colour, form, rhythm, movement, material and space. Set within Prokofiev Studio, four distinct practices come together through ideas of construction and composition, where individual elements shift, connect and find their place within the whole. Bringing together works by Anastasia Belinskaya, Gülce Tulçalı, Kika Sroka-Miller, Synthetic Studio and Harry Payne, the exhibition considers the archive through different registers: material, technological, speculative and personal. Across the exhibition, these different forms do not aim to present a complete or chronological history. Instead, they point towards an archive made up of fragments: things preserved and things lost, things that can be accessed and others that remain out of reach. For Derrida, the impulse to preserve is never entirely separate from the possibility of loss. An archive is thereby shaped not only by what enters it, but by what remains outside, who is able to access it, and how its contents come to be read later on. In this sense, an archive does not simply tell us what happened. Rather, it participates in producing the conditions through which something may become history at all. This feels particularly relevant now, when the act of recording has become almost constant: photographs, surveillance, scrolling, data and digital traces are produced at a speed that increasingly complicates what might constitute evidence, memory or even truth.

Project ‘Clouds That Never Rain’ began with a simple observation: today, technology is widely considered something weightless and intangible, something that exists somewhere ‘up there’. Through this project, we wanted to challenge this myth We decided to continue the tradition of photographers like Bernd and Hilla Becher, who documented industrial buildings, and went outside to photograph data centres—the tangible backbone of everything we do online Over five field trips, we photographed around 20 data centres. We noticed that these buildings don’t really want to be seen. They hide behind office frontages, surrounded by fences inside fences, with water running along their perimeters like castle moats. They are covered in signs: ‘no stopping’, ‘no cycling’, ‘no smoking’, etc. It felt like a quiet insistence that there is nothing worth stopping for.But, of course, there is Data centres are one of the fastest-growing building technologies of our time. The global sector is set to double in size by 2030. In London alone, there are around 150 data centres, containing thousands of servers, cooling systems, backup generators, and miles of cables. Together, they consume vast amounts of energy and water, reshape urban landscapes, and make the seemingly weightless world of digital technology physically possible. Power to Care – a duo-exhibition by Anna Samoylova and Zulfiya Spowart, curated by Irina Kuznik and Anzhela Popova. Power to Care explores care as a way of engaging with history, memory and inheritance. Through textiles, embroidery, painting and sculptural forms, Anna Samoylova and Zulfiya Spowart examine the fragile relationship between personal experience, cultural memory and material transformation. Rather than seeking to repair or preserve the past, the exhibition invites us to remain attentive to its traces and to the time, labour and responsibility that care demands.
