6 weeks into my LCL recovery and this is the part nobody posts.

Everyone shares the injury and the comeback. Almost nobody shows the weeks in between, which are the recovery treatments, the laser therapy, the acoustic wave therapy, the compression, and the showing up when nothing looks exciting.

This week’s milestone: I can now get into positions that put direct pressure on my LCL without pain. A few weeks ago that wasn’t possible.

Recovery after 40 isn’t about hype. It’s stacking small wins, week after week, and being honest about the process. Chapter 4 of The Comeback.

What’s the hardest part of recovery for you: the pain, the patience, or the consistency? Tell me below 👇

Follow @workinonmysavage for the full comeback series.

Recovery done at @aopwellness.

LCL tear recovery update, 5+ weeks after a BJJ knee injury: we passed the tests. 🦴

Manual testing and ultrasound both confirmed it. The LCL is the only thing injured.

Here’s the knee injury recovery plan I’m running at AOP Wellness:

✅ BioForce targeted laser therapy
✅ Targeted cryotherapy
✅ Laser therapy
✅ Compression boots
✅ Acoustic wave therapy

Same plan, every week. I’m documenting the whole comeback so you can see what rehab really looks like for an athlete over 40.

Ever torn an LCL, ACL or MCL? Drop how long your comeback took 👇

Send this to a training partner who’s rehabbing, and follow @workinonmysavage for every chapter of the comeback.

Not medical advice. Talk to your own doctor about your injury.

Rubberguard has to be my favorite system to work with the kids 1️⃣0️⃣
So may entries - tons of transitions and sweeps - plus the kids always think the moves look cool even if they aren’t complicated 👇🏼👌🏼

Thanks to @aop_wellness I come in feeling good physically and mentally! Ready to give every class - every move and every finish my all 🥊 - Best job in the world 🙌🏼! It’s all about a balance of having fun and getting hard work in💪🏻. One of my secrets to working with the youth is making everyday different as well as turning games into lessons using basic technique concepts instead of long multi step sequences that they don’t have the attention span for in just an hour.

The hard sessions get the attention, but the recovery is where you actually improve. Enjoy yourself, eat good food, get better rest, better habits. Every piece of the routine counts, and I’m lucky to have @aopwellness and @pressurepoint supporting mine. Take care of your body and it’ll keep showing up for you.

1 month after tearing my LCL rolling BJJ: my knee injury recovery update (and the sound every athlete over 40 fears) 🦴

Labor Day. One roll. One crack.

A month later, and thank goodness Dr. Maarouf’s ultrasound and tests showed the only thing I have is an LCL tear. Here’s the exact recovery plan I’ve been running at AOP Wellness:

✅ Compression boots
✅ BioForce laser
✅ Targeted cryo
✅ Acoustic wave therapy

Same treatment plan, every week, and we’re back. I’m documenting the whole comeback so you can see what LCL tear recovery looks like after 40.

Ever tweaked or torn something training? Drop what it was and how long it took you to come back 👇

Save this for the day your body talks back, and follow @workinonmysavage for every step of the comeback.

Not medical advice. Talk to your own doctor about your injury.
