What a joy to wake up to this beautiful Stage Whispers review for BETTY, BOOFF & JOAN: Meet the Booff’s.

A show about family, memory, birthday rituals, chosen connection, and the ridiculous ways we survive being human.

Thank you to everyone who joined the party, brought their hearts, and let the Booff’s’ into the room; and to the extraordinary team of creatives and supporters who helped bring this strange and beautiful family to life :)

For, as the saying goes…
“I Just Got Booff’d.”

The world is a smaller place when you are in the right rooms.

These are the international performing arts platforms that have shaped AFE’s journey - conferences and festivals Aaron has attended, built real relationships through, and found genuinely valuable for connecting with artists, presenters, and cultural organisations around the world.

There are plenty of other great markets out there - these are just the ones we know firsthand.

From the world’s largest arts festivals to smaller marketplace platforms, these are the rooms where lifelong friendships are made, touring opportunities come up in conversation, collaborations are born, and international careers quietly take shape.

Since starting AFE in Mumbai in March 2020, Aaron has attended 50+ international arts conferences and festivals across 6 continents and the network that’s come out of it has been the most valuable thing we’ve built.

If you’re an artist, producer, or arts organisation thinking about taking your work international - SAVE THIS. 📌 We’ll keep adding to it.

[ACCELERATION] Rooted in community, exploring narratives across mediums, and connecting stories beyond borders.

Rachmat Mustamin represents Makassar at the Australian Performing Arts Market (APAM) 2026 in Boorloo/Perth — a global platform where artists, producers, and cultural practitioners meet, exchange, and collaborate.

A meaningful step that reflects how voices and works from Makassar continue to grow, resonate, and find their place on the international stage — with support from many hands within the ecosystem. 🎭✨

The last two weeks, I traveled to explore new journey for Flying Balloons.

End of 2025, mas @muh.ab introduce us to Tam from @turning.world_ , then Tam introduce us to Sam from @terrapin_puppet_theatre . Those initial convo leads us to APAM in Perth/Borloo and Hobart Tasmania.

As a newbie in performing art market, it is trully overwhelming and exciting simultaneously. I got to see many Australian works and connect with Australian, Southeast Asian and International delegates. Joined some discussion that sparks question and further investigation on how similar and distinct the way we create arts in different part of the world.Met my old friend and collaborator during the event, also creating new connection along the way. I am thankful for the opportunity that Turning World and ASEAN Australia Institute gave me.

After APAM, I continue our journey to meet Terrapin in Hobart together with Rangga. We met with Sam in person and discuss things that important to us. Exploring possibilities together. Sam showed us around Tasmanian wooden boat communities, hearing stories, and finding ways to connect deeper with the land.

It was challenging to be away from the boys for a week, but we did it anway. Cheers to more adventure in the near future. 🙌

Thrilled to have had 11 Southeast Asian Superconnector friends from Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam in Melbourne, Perth and Hobart recently for residencies, WIP showings, panels, sector gatherings, venue visits, and the Australian Performing Arts Market.

It was a fruitful and frenetic week at APAM where we joined 30+ Southeast Asian colleagues for pitching, panels, shows, networking and karaoke.
