Very honored to announce that we’re an Official Selection at the International Sound and Film Music Festival in Varaždin, Croatia! @isfmf_dreamaker Not only that, but we are actually nominated for Best Original Score in the Short Film Category! The festival runs May 21-24. Excited to highlight our beautiful Original Score by composers Adam Robl and Shawn Sutta at @audiocastle_studios and also our incredible Sound Design by @adamlorencarl at this festival that honors achievements in sound and music in film. Both the score and the sound design are critical in KIND MOTHER, since silence/sound/music help tell the story in a big way. Very thrilled that we got accepted, let alone nominated, and I noticed on their website that we’re in good company (an understatement): in our sister category, the Best Original Score for Feature Films, there are many recognizable titles that I adore from last year, like TRAIN DREAMS (with score composed by Bryce Dessner) and HAMNET (composed by Max Richter), to name a couple. Happy Friday my friends! I am alive and currently getting over the flu but thank goodness on the other side of it. In this time I’ve been having some conversations with fellow vendor friends and my next step in this business. Definitely figuring out the industry changes and a lot of us are feeling the weight. I’ve been doing this for 17 years and this is the first year we’ve had this much pressure on us. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ No sugar coating, but a lot of us are struggling. Here to say I’m here with you. Here to say its ok to pivot in your career and try new things. Families need to be fed and bills have to be paid. Don’t feel bad about taking that 2nd shooter or even 3rd shooter job. Your family and health come first and you will never get a negative word from me for doing that. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But go out and do what you love and do what puts food on the table. For me I’ll continue to edit and mentor for my fellow photographers, take on the 2nd shooter jobs when they come and shoot things that give me joy. For me, my joys come from couples who love film, those who love true to color art and meaningful events. I have a lot of small elopement events coming up this summer and I can not wait to tell their stories.
