A peek at our new project in Clapton: a beautiful three-bedroom home where no detail has been spared.

This wonderful client was keen to lay some roots. After owning this beautiful Victorian garden flat for a few years, it was time to make it home. One they could host dinner parties in, work from home occasionally, and ultimately feel proud to call their own.

It’s always a truly collaborative process, and figuring out what works (and what doesn’t) has been a particular challenge on the lower ground floor. But through exploring colour, print, texture and investing a huge amount of time in new layouts, including a wardrobe and storage behind the bed, or knocking through walls to create a larger en-suite and bathroom. We’ve landed somewhere quite special indeed.

We work end to end on our projects: from research and design, to full technical packages, connecting with trade partners, project co-ordination and procurement, right through to the final stages. We take the immense weight of decision-making off your shoulders and create something that often goes far beyond our client’s dream.

Phone pics for now and I’m looking forward to the last few details going in, and sharing more soon.

Natasha 💚

Not sure how to display your TV? It’s a common theme with clients, whether you’re a telly addict, a movie buff, or simply want to soften the noise. Over the years, we’ve explored many design solutions that not only conceal the TV, but give it real visual impact.

In our latest design, part of our Clapton renovation project, we worked with the talented Parisian artist @andreamongenie in collaboration with @labsurde_ob__jet to create eight bespoke pieces of artwork.

“Andrea Mongenie’s practice spans painting to set design, ceramics and murals. It centres on the interaction between shape and colour, balance and discord, light, texture and movement. The power of her final compositions relies on a sense of ritual: a lengthy process of colour mixing, resulting in the inexplicable harmony of colour, objects and place. With every painting Andrea aims to achieve a deep inner serenity, calm and warmth.”

I think the end result is a true joy, and I look forward to sharing more on this subject and project soon!

Why did I start AP? I wanted a career, and I wanted to be a mum to my two children. I was also starting to feel a backlash to fashion and wanted to build something more sustainable, something I could grow myself.

Did you know? I worked as an accessories designer for nearly 20 years!
I worked in houses and as a consultant for many brands such as Acne Studios, Burberry, Victoria Beckham, Loewe, Asprey… This is where I became a colour addict and totally fascinated by texture, print, and finish.

Why did you move to Margate? It felt like time to rip up the rule book and start again. I’d been working long hours and travelling constantly. I wanted a new way of doing things. Moving to Margate from East London 8 years ago felt like a wild decision, but we haven’t looked back since.

Proudest Moments of AP? There are so many: being included in some of my favourite publications such as Living Etc, The Sunday Times Style, Homes & Gardens, Elle Decoration, and books. Finishing full renovation projects and taking a moment to realise just how much we’ve transformed our clients’ homes.

How did AP Start? AP was originally founded as a bespoke dried flower delivery business during lockdown with my husband, John. We were both at a crossroads in our careers and he suggested we set up a business together, but I needed to come up with the idea because I’m the creative one. It’s a conversation I’ll never forget, and my first reaction was to laugh and say we couldn’t work together! Turns out our different skill sets were the perfect combo. John still works with AP, but I took over the full reins 4 years ago when we pivoted the business into interior design.

Did you know? I was very much the little girl who wanted to grow up to be a ballerina. I had a devastating injury just before I was 16 and about to audition for ballet schools in London. I was told not to dance again, but as an adult I picked it back up and I’m now studying for my Advanced 1 ballet exam! I was also able to tick of a major bucket list moment of dancing on stage with daughter last summer.

Quick Fire:

First love? Ballet (sorry John!)
