Rescued from Outer Space: Spacetech driving green change 👩‍🚀 🌍

Space may seem distant, but it’s already changing life on Earth. From tracking wildfires and deforestation to decoding animal migration and forecasting disasters — space tech is our secret weapon in the fight for a sustainable future.

At #GTF2025, Chiara Moenter (@bdli_de & Co-Founder of @sdgspace) led a stellar panel exploring how satellites and data from above are tackling climate challenges on the ground.

🌱 @apsaramitra (@reearthinitiative) made it clear: “Space can serve the most marginalized people to develop adaptation and mitigation strategies.”

🔥Thomas Grübler (@ororatech) showed how satellites help firefighters outpace wildfires.

🌳Daniel Seidel (LiveEO) explained how space tech makes your chocolate bar greener — tracking deforestation to ensure sustainable, compliant supply chains.

🦅Gregor Langer (Talos) introduced us to the Internet of Animals — using animal movement to predict ecological shifts.

💬 As NASA aerospace engineer @apsaramitra claimed: “I think we have the opportunity in space to be able to model a different way of innovating that we haven’t seen on Earth. We can innovate in a new developmental cycle, sustainable by design, enable a circular economy that we haven’t seen on our planet. And apply it back here on Earth.”

Space isn’t science fiction anymore. It’s science for sustainability. And it’s already here.
