Going to college shouldn’t be a debt sentence.

For too long, politicians have promised affordable college and then let costs continue to soar. It’s time for affordable college NOW!

On Election Day, students, faculty, staff, and alumni are voting for affordable, debt-free college. Make sure you’re registered to vote and have a voting plan on Nov. 3!

On Monday, hundreds of Pennsylvania students, faculty, staff, and working people gathered on the steps of the Capitol in Harrisburg to tell our elected officials: It’s time for affordable college NOW!

We stood with our partners at @apscuf , @aftunion , @pa.aaup, @neatoday , @seiu_org , @psea_org, @project26pa, and more than a dozen unions and organizations to demand that state lawmakers increase funding for public higher education by 15% and pass the Pennsylvania Promise.

We rallied on Monday because college in the Commonwealth cannot only be for people who can afford it. But our fight continues.

Comment "PA" to fight for affordable college!

Senator Hughes joined @apscuf and supporters from around the Commonwealth to call for affordable college for every Pennsylvania student.

Senator Hughes and other lawmakers have a plan called the PA Promise that would help families making less than $250,000/year pay for college. This is a plan that could work and help thousands of people go to college without taking on crushing student loan debt.

We know the general public wants lawmakers delivering solutions that address affordability. The PA Promise plan delivers on affordable college.

Yesterday, Indiana University of Pennsylvania Student Government Association made the trip to Harrisburg to fight for an affordable higher education for our constituents. Not only did we rally on the steps of the capitol, we also shared your stories with staffers from the offices of Senator Jay Costa and Representative Jim Struzzi. IUP SGA is committed to promoting and enriching the welfare of IUP students, on campus AND on the steps of the capitol. We would like to extend our gratitude to @apscuf and @iup.apscuf for making this trip possible. These incredible photographs were taken by not one but TWO of our talented SGA members, @belladukhon and @meadephotos. We would like to thank them for taking the time to help capture and memorialize the impact of the Rally for Public Education. #affordablehighereducation #apscuf #rally #iup Photograph of students holding protest signs advocating for affordable higher education on the steps of the PA State Capitol in Harrisburgh.

Such an incredible experience in Harrisburg today! ❤️

I had the opportunity to attend the Affordable College Now! rally at the Pennsylvania State Capitol and represent Mansfield University alongside fellow students. I’m especially grateful for the opportunity to meet Senator Carolyn Comitta and be part of conversations surrounding the future of higher education in Pennsylvania.

A huge thank you to APSCUF for inviting students from Pennsylvania’s state universities and giving us the opportunity to show up, learn, and have our voices represented. I’m grateful to have been part of today’s experience! 🎓🏛️

“knowledge is the underpinning of freedom”

‘AFFORDABLE COLLEGE NOW!’ Rally for Public Higher Ed in PA Schools. Such a powerful message FOR students BY students to express that wanting a higher education should not be a death sentence for us, our families, and our pockets. I hope these photos allow you to feel like you were right there with us, and inspire change wherever it’s needed.

Today, FTAC/Philadelphia Connections joined APSCUF, universities, and community partners at the Capitol to advocate for accessible, affordable public higher education in Pennsylvania!!

Pennsylvania’s behavioral health workforce needs more qualified professionals to meet the increasing needs of the communities we serve. Before there can be a therapist, case manager, psychiatrist, researcher, or any other behavioral health professional, there has to be education.

Access to higher education is an investment in the workforce we need today and the professionals we’re preparing for tomorrow.
