🇺🇸 It's been already two weeks since Solaris Bus & Coach unveiled its first battery-electric bus developed specifically for the North American market, marking a milestone in the manufacturer's expansion strategy.

🎙️ Mateusz Figaszewski, Director, Institutional Partnerships and External Relations at Solaris, explains the strategy behind the launch of the 40-foot Urbino electric bus, the upcoming 60-foot articulated model, and the first contracts secured with North American transit agencies.

🚌 Solaris has secured orders for four battery-electric buses in Seattle (King County Metro Transit), six in San Francisco for San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA), and 275 trolleybuses for TransLink in Vancouver.

🏭 While the first vehicles will be manufactured in Poland, Solaris plans to establish US-market bus production at the CAF (Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles) facility in Elmira, New York, in compliance with Buy America requirements.

🗞️ Much wider reporting will be on upcoming November issue of Sustainable Bus magazine!

Last week, ‘The Interchange’ @apta_transit #TRANSform2026 wrapped, and what a night.

We took over the rooftop at VU in Chicago and brought together an incredible mix of people from across the transit and rail industry. Old friends, new connections, longtime clients, future collaborators, and a Chicago skyline that did not disappoint.

I keep hearing it was APTA’s best party, and I’m not going to argue. A huge thank you to our co-sponsors Axis Communications, MaxAccel, Mitsubishi Electric, Televic Rail, Tracsis, and Westermo Network Technologies, and to everyone who joined us in making ‘The Interchange’ such a memorable night.

Did you catch the Solaris bus at the Expo? 🚌⚡️

We were at @mccormickplace for the @apta_transit TRANSform & EXPO to witness some incredible feats of Poland’s futuristic engineering! First up was the official North American premiere of the @solarisbus_official Urbino 40 electric—a state-of-the-art, zero-emission transit bus developed specifically for this market. ✨

But the innovation didn’t stop there. We also checked out the amazing standalone showcases from STER seating, bringing premium passenger comfort to the industry, and MEDCOM electricity, highlighting their own cutting-edge power systems.

It was incredible to see these distinct 🇵🇱 tech powerhouses out in full force, leading the charge in sustainable public transportation! 🌎🚍
