POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

From the “don’t forget what you learned on Saturday” corner ….

Position creates opportunity.

When you reach too far and your elbows get away from your body, you give your opponent space to clear your arms and attack underneath.

Stay compact, keep your feet underneath you, and stay ready to react.

Small details.

Big difference.

If you really want it, get comfortable with “over and over.”

The drilling can get boring, but that’s where the habits take hold, the shot gets sharper, and the fundamentals become your foundation.

Give every rep your attention and get ready to put in plenty of them.

A few lessons from the mat with Danny Castillo.

The message was simple from the start: fundamentals always work.

And from there, the room went to work.

No tricks.

No crazy moves.

Build the foundation.

Good position. Good defense. Solid shots.

The things you can trust as the competition gets tougher.

“Wrestling’s a mind game. You gotta be tough.”

Get the leg back. Make them feel your defense. Keep working.

Technique and mindset working together, because wrestling asks for both.

“It’s not a fight all the time. We gotta gain the skill before we go into the fight.”

Learn how to drill. Learn how to give your partner the right resistance. Learn how to help each other get better.

Fundamentals. Mindset. Partnership.

Build it right. Drill it right. Trust it when it counts.

The gems are in the details. Simple lessons. Sound wrestling. The kind that stays with you.

A huge thank you to Danny Castillo from Grit N Grace Academy, Oakies Kidz, Watsonville Wrestling, and all our local athletes! For an AWESOME Clinic !!!!!

This is the kind of passion we need on the mat.

Danny brought the details, the intensity, and a love for wrestling that the kids could feel.

Thank you for pouring your energy, experience, and heart into our youth. These lessons will stay with them through the next practice, the next match, and beyond.

We’ll share a few clips and candids throughout the coming week to recap an incredible morning.

So much good stuff to look back on.

We can’t wait to have you back, Danny!

Danny and I go back to our college wrestling days, so getting him on the mat with our kids today was pretty special.

He gets why I believe so deeply in wrestling.

The fundamentals, the discipline, the heart it takes.

And the energy he brings as a coach, you have to experience it.

It’s natural.

It’s raw.

There’s years of hard earned knowledge behind it, and he knows how to bring it to whoever’s in front of him.

We shared a mat long before his UFC career, and everything he’s done since…the skill, the mindset, the way he teaches still blows me away!!!

Danny, thank you for bringing that to our kids.

This is exactly the kind of passion we need in these rooms.

If you get a chance to learn from this guy, take it.

We were lucky today 💜🤼‍♂️🤼‍♀️🙇🏽‍♀️🔥👊🏽

October is FULL ....and we are ready for it.

We’re kicking off the month THIS WEEKEND with the Danny Castillo Clinic at Watsonville High, followed by our first folkstyle tournament of the season at Silver Creek on October 11.

And we’re just getting started.

October 17 → Oktoberfest at Menlo College

October 19 → Our Ladies visit Cardinal Wrestling Club

All month → Wrestling, dance, strength & conditioning, and a whole lot of work in between.

This is what building well-rounded athletes looks like: compete, learn, move, get stronger, experience new rooms, and keep growing.

Parents, please take a close look at the calendar and especially the notes in the bottom right-hand corner for our special events and dates.

Busy month. Full month. GOOD month.
October, GNG is coming for you!!!!

LET’S GOOOOOOO ! ❤️

Let girls take up space.

On the mat.

On the podium.

In the history of this sport. ( and every sport)

Every time she steps out there, another little girl sees what’s possible.

Show up.

Get loud.

Help her believe she belongs and let her hear us in her corner.

For nearly seven decades, the California Community College Athletic Association (3C2A) has served as the foundation of collegiate wrestling in California. Since its inaugural season in 1958-59, the 3C2A has developed countless champions, producing All-Americans, NCAA and NAIA standouts, and even Olympians.

Now, you have the opportunity to help write the next chapter.

Gavilan College is exploring the launch of men’s and women’s wrestling programs, and your voice matters. Wrestlers, coaches, parents, alumni, fans, and community supporters are invited to attend a Wrestling Town Hall to learn about the vision, ask questions, and help shape the future of wrestling in Gilroy.

As 3C2A wrestling experiences a resurgence—with the return of programs at the College of the Redwoods and Imperial Valley College, along with the addition of Mission College—momentum is building across California. Interest in bringing wrestling back to Gavilan College has generated excitement throughout the state’s wrestling community and beyond.
