POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Sports Internships and practice involves a lot of learning the demands of athletes in ALL SPORTS-ALL POSITIONS. Pro Center @a.j.v.9 from the @sanantoniogunslingers is teaching DPT student @andrea.huerta24 what a center does for a living: how he moves, where he pushes, etc.
She gets to take the raw data collection from his evaluation, pair it with his pathology, then create a cumulative phasic plan to get him back to the field!
We encourage our students, professional staff and aides to ask questions and clarity early and often about familiarizing themselves with differing athletes.
If you truly want to work with athletes…let alone elite athletes you better be as good at your job as they are at theirs AND understand how to get them back there. It’s about rapport, trust, skill, communication and creativity.

👀 BEST RECOMMENDATION; Get out of the 4 walls in your head and clinic! Go to the field, court etc, listen to coaches, see the drills, hang out with ATCs, coach your niece/ nephew in a sport you know nothing about (YouTube is a thing) and TRULY LEARN what it means to each athlete

HEEES BACK!! @jaden_walkgreen being released back into the wild to cause chaos!
All headlines aside, this reel is a slap in the face to “sports clinics” that don’t go the next level to treat and clear their athletes properly.
This reel has a small sample of what was a 15 part DB specific clearance that he earned LIKE A SPECIMEN to get back to the gridiron TONIGHT (a week early). Includes objective measures, psych, position specific demands, etc. Scoring individually and summatively well over the industry standard minimum 90%! Obviously what you don’t see is all the intricate and phasic prep to get him to this spot.
If you work with athletes PLEASE know your game, their game and realize that this is a SPECIAL POPULATION.

In this week’s lab for Advanced Patient Management, we covered ACL reconstruction rehab focusing on return to sport/performance and how we can provide the best care to set up these patients for long term success 💪

We got to venture into the Biomechanics lab, use force plates, use the isokinetic dynamometer, as well as administer performance tests such as the Noyes hop test, depth jumps, drop jumps, Y balance test, and T-test!

🌟As future clinicians, it’s always important to perform the tests ourselves before giving them to our patients. Big thank you to Dr. Cossin, Dr. Patterson, and our adjuncts for leading us through this awesome lab! 🤾
