Going digital? Can your listeners follow?

UCC published draft DAB receiver standards and a draft broadcasting technical code on 7 June 2026. They remain labelled as drafts on its website; this is a planning discussion, not an announcement of enacted rules or a nationwide launch.

The receiver draft proposes DAB+ support and FM reception for receivers other than adapters.

For station owners, engineers and equipment suppliers, the practical question is listener access. Before committing to an upgrade, assess receiver availability, affordability, coverage and how audiences will find your service.

What would help your listeners adopt digital radio: affordable receivers, better coverage or clearer information?

Join the conversation at RBS 2027, 12–13 February, Kampala, Uganda.
