Aloha fam! I'm incredibly honored to share this conversation with you… because it is truly a conversation I believe will serve us collectively.

I sat down about a month ago to record this with @aquaodyssey. We had no idea where it would go, but in light of where we are now it seems perfect.

Jennifer Lighty is a word dervish—a storyteller, writer, mentor, and bodyworker who helps ground the mythic dimension in modern life. She is a conduit to help rebuild the bridge between imagination, intuition, and logic so we operate from a sacred and holistic perspective.

Honestly, we touched on some hot button topics in this episode. It all started with a question about shame and emotions after Jennifer boldly shared her own story of initiation through a journey with depression. This led us to explore the roots of capitalism, colonialism, empire and the human-wide wound of separation from the Great Mother.

Other Topics Include:

✨ The Lost Art of Initiations
✨ Depression in Modern Culture
✨ the Purpose of the Human Experience
✨ The Wound of Separation
✨ The Wisdom of Fairy Tales - Portals to Magic

This conversation was thought-provoking, electrifying and insightful. Jennifer is an incredible wealth of not only information about our history and myths, but wisdom gained through a life lived in service to authenticity and truth. Her voice serves as a spark to light your own flame of remembering who you are and the Divine essence within. I truly hope you enjoy this as much as I enjoy sharing it with you!

Aloha Mā,
Kyra 🌺

“Sometimes, you can see into your own heart when you gaze into another’s eyes. Sometimes when the heart’s defenses collapse, the soul is revealed. Collapse may be required and exposure may be necessary, but in the end, wind and water will reclaim the wall’s stones for the fire that birthed them.
Someday the physical will be gone, not just you and me, but the stones, the molten lava, even the water. Between now and then every moment is a new beginning on the path to aloha mã, and though we have choices, we can’t step off. Nothing is lost. The end is always a beginning.”

Returning to a special book authored by a magical Big island aloha MĀ sister @aquaodyssey

excerpt above from PIKO, A return to the dreaming

I’d been thinking (instead of feeling): This is my last day living in Hawaii… but this needs a reframe… because it is part of a ongoing journey, navigating change, wayfinding by the stars and the heart… aloha mā, self-reflective love, has helped me remember this.

What I see in you, in me, in the land and water… it’s all love. It is felt, embodied, shared and received freely. It connect us, and connects us with all that is within us and around us. No matter where we go, no matter where we are, the love is transportable. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the ones who are the vehicles of awareness and revolution of change. Our souls chose to incarnate for this journey, right here, right now. The endings, the beginnings. Trust the continuum of the wheel of change. It may usher you towards what your heart has desired for so long but may just now be remembering. 💞✨

Check out this new book, ‘Piko’ that my friend @aquaodyssey just published! 📕

This profound book is exceptionally raw, relevant & real for our modern day fast paced society where most of us have forgotten the ancient myths & how important they are to guide us towards a healthy future. 🙌🏽

The depth of wisdom and storytelling in this book is staggering. She deftly weaves in tales of ancient Goddesses & Gods. The story of Inanna is my favorite, of course. 🥀

The author weaves in her own personal stories, sharing her vulnerable core with her sharp whit and talented writing skill in a manner that will absolutely capture you. 🌺

Born from years of experience living on the Hawaiian Islands, soaking in the raw mana of her volcanic born ‘aina & also learning from one of my favorite friends, the incredible @pohala_hawaiian_botanicals , Jennifer shares Native Hawaiian wisdom in a rapturous manner in Piko. 🌋

Her writing is divine! Check out this excerpt that speaks to my soul:

“According to science, suffering happens in the brain, not the heart. Turn off the nociceptors and the brain can be hacked into without the body feeling pain. Anesthesia. It’s a pretty name. Like a Greek goddess or a Russian Tsarina executed in a basement.

Scientists say turn off the nociceptors in the brain and suffering will cease. But ghosts suffer. They have no bodies and they suffer. I’ve heard them. Remember the orca who swam for days, keeling her dead calf above the surface in the chilly Salish Sea? Suffering and pain are not the same. Suffering is not a product of fear. It is a gift of love.” 🐋

Wow, right⁉️

Please check it out in @aquaodyssey bio and be magnificently moved by this book as I am!

🌋 Big Island Transformation 🌋

I was just blessed up to spend 10 days on the magnificent island of Hawaii replenishing within the glow of Pele’s fire! 🔥

Wow, what a potent island she is with her raw power! I felt like I was pushed to the limit to grow, the fire is strong there. In many ways, I feel rebirthed again & transformed by the flames of growth! 🔥🌋🔥

It was such a joy to spend time with dear old friends like @decansea @jayalakshmimusic (check out her music! 🎵) @ranijoy.embodiedfreedom (thx for the fabulous face paint love!) so many more! It was a thrill to meet a new online friend @aquaodyssey and have her sign her newly released and epic book, ‘Piko’. Stay tuned for more about her book! ♥️

I was fortunate to attend two music festivals @manafest.bigisland & @blessfest at @kalanioceanside & @sundari_on_hawaii 🌺

Travel & music are indeed healing forces & I’m grateful to have experienced it all! 🌞🙌🏽🌞
