Seeing young people spark a connection with nature through their own interests is so important to make it lifelong.

The Birds on the Edge project has engaging hundreds of children and young people with nature, the work and importance of the project, and the landscapes of @northyorkmoors and @howardianhillsnl.

More recently the project has been working with young people from Bridlington. For most it was their first time visiting these landscapes, spending dedicated time with nature, getting involved in conservation tasks, learning about habitats, developing skills and knowledge, and seeing a dark sky.

The best part is that they did so through their own interests - through art, music, poetry, soundscape, and drama.

Working with our brilliant partners @arcade_hello and @northyorkmoors, as well as artist Diana Logan, they turned these experiences into their own original performance pieces which they wrote, choreographed and premiered at Bridlington Theatre.

A wonderful celebration of creativity, confidence building, and connection.

This work was produced by @arcade_hello in partnership with the Trust for the Birds on the Edge project. This additional work was funded by the Wharfedale Foundation.

The arts across North Yorkshire is flourishing, and this wouldn't be possible without all of our funders. A huge thank you to the York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority, @aceagrams , and the UK Government for everything they do to support our work!

Tadcaster’s Tales of Curiosity 💛

What an incredible performance from our Tadcaster Barn Youth Theatre!

Inspired by the theme of curiosity, our young people brought three original stories to life through performance, storytelling, and shadow puppetry:

🚽 W.C. Toilet Portal
🚀 Stuck in Space
🧙 The Curious Colours & The Mystical Wizard

As always, we’re amazed by their talent, but we’re even more impressed by the kindness, encouragement, and support they show one another every week. Watching them cheer each other on is just as special as watching them perform.

A huge well done to every young person involved - you are brilliant! 💛

Pied Piper Tour - Scarborough & Hull - Some epic final stops of the tour. Fate showed why understudys are essential. Ready as always to hop in all the final shows. 2nd to last slide when the gang convinced me to stay out for the final party till 4am. Final slide the sound of thousands of kids screaming a school assembly workshop finale early morning in Leeds the next day 😅 "hard work pays off" ✊️😂

What a night at Tadcaster Barn!✨

The brilliant Tadcaster Barn Youth Theatre took us on an unforgettable journey with ‘Explorers Around the World’!

They became their very own Guild of Explorers in a play they devised themselves! From researching extinct (and stinky!) animals, to creating scenes across different habitats, every moment was full of imagination.

We couldn’t be prouder of their creativity, teamwork, and beautiful storytelling 💛

WHAT TOTAL SUPERSTARS!
