Imagine stepping inside a giant kaleidoscope 🌈

Welcome to MYRIAD LUMINARIUM, it’s making its debut with the @nationaltrust at @ntsudbury

Created by @architectsofair_ this HUGE 900-square-metre immersive sculpture feels like stepping onto another planet. With winding tunnels, glowing colours and incredible light patterns inspired by nature & geometry, it’s an adventure for the senses that’s just as calming as it is mesmerising.

It’s fully accessible, designed for all ages & the perfect family adventure for your memory-making bucket list!

Would your little adventurers love exploring this magical immersive world of colour, light and wonder? Ours definitely did!

Thank you to everyone who visited the @ArchitectsofAir Luminarium in Central Park!

Over four brilliant days, thousands of people stepped inside this incredible artwork - attendees described the experience as “joyous”, “peaceful”, “inspiring” and even “epic”.

Thanks to @sabbakhanart for designing the beautiful Wonder Weaver activity, to @newhammusic for their joyful music sessions, , and to @newhamlondon Libraries team for bringing the colourful ‘Threads of Home’ VR experience.

We’re grateful to @architectsofair for including @culturewithin_ in their national Connexus Tour, @acegrams for the support, to @jadegreenproductions, and to all of the wonderful stewards and volunteers who brought the event to life.

Rainy day half-term activity 🌧

The Children’s Country House @ntsudbury - just across the border in Derbyshire - is the first National Trust property to host Myriad - an immersive luminarium created by Nottingham-based artists @architectsofair_.

The experience invites visitors to discover winding tunnels, soaring domes and glowing, light-filled spaces.

It's on until October 25, and tickets are £10pp (free for infants under 12 months and carers) 🌈

Wow that was really rather amazing .
Artist Alan Parkinson is the founder of Architects of Air, makers of Luminaria.
Really excited to see this, conveniently local too, as had heard about it from Bob's granddaughter Emily from when she worked with a similar installation in Boston.
I feel so inspired by the amazing colours, combinations and transitions.
And all astonishingly totally natural light.
Wonder if I can capture even an idea of it in my glass ?

Something a little different for a family day out in Derbyshire

Myriad by @architectsofair_ is at @ntsudbury until 25th October. Step inside to explore colourful tunnels and rooms filled with natural light.

Here’s what you need to know:

📍 The Children’s Country House at Sudbury, near Ashbourne
📅 16th–25th October
🎟️ £10 per person for Myriad, with under-12-months free. Book in advance.
🏡 General admission is separate for non-National Trust members. Members receive free general admission, but still need a Myriad ticket.
🚗 Free parking, approximately 300m from the entrance
☕ Café for drinks and snacks
♿ Wheelchair accessible, with buggy storage available

You’ll need to take your shoes off inside

You could make a day of it with a visit to the Museum of Childhood, gardens and outdoor play areas too.

Imagine wandering through a giant rainbow, surrounded by incredible colours, winding tunnels and huge domes. It really does feel like stepping into another world!

🌈 So, What Is the Myriad Luminarium?
Created by @architectsofair_ Myriad is an incredible, air-filled sculpture that you can actually walk inside! With winding pathways, tunnels and enormous, soaring domes, it's a bit like exploring a giant rainbow.

And here's the clever bit… there are no artificial lights inside at all! The amazing colours come entirely from sunlight shining through the specially coloured material. ☀️ That means the colours change depending on the light outside, and if the wind blows, you can even spot the shadows of nearby trees dancing across the walls!

As you wander around, you might feel like you're inside a spaceship, a giant womb or even a colourful cathedral. There are so many different shapes and spaces to discover, and the idea is to take your time, explore the maze and enjoy the experience rather than rush through it.

There aren't any chairs inside, but you can sit or lie down on the floor and simply take it all in. It's surprisingly calming, as well as being fascinating to explore.

Designed for all ages and fully accessible, it's a sensory experience that encourages you to slow down, look around and appreciate the incredible world of colour and light.

✨ It's definitely not your usual art exhibition! This is a chance to climb inside the artwork itself and experience it from within.

Sometimes, it's the little moments that mean the most. 🥹

Watching him happily spin and explore all the beautiful colours at Myriad Luminarium, Sudbury, was one of my favourite moments from our visit.

Our quieter session gave him the space to enjoy everything in his own way.

And I loved watching him do just that. 🤍
