This past Tuesday, I made the difficult decision to leave the apartment where I was living with my twin brother, my sister, my adopted mother, and a close family friend. It was a choice made for my emotional and mental well-being. There is so much love for them, and moving out felt much like the emotions parents experience when their children leave home for college or embark on new life chapters. While it was not easy, it was necessary for growth.

In the absence of financial and emotional support systems that many are fortunate to rely on, this season of life has been a journey of self-reliance. June of 2023 brought some of the most challenging moments yet. It was during this time that Letter to Rosie was created—a short film that explores survival, self-worth, and the courage to overcome life’s obstacles. This project, while creatively fulfilling, also brought unexpected difficulties, including strain on friendships that once felt genuine. Balancing public interviews, medical appointments for my mother, and relationship tension, alongside professional pressures, added to the weight. The overwhelming attention even led to being followed in my former neighborhood.

More recently, my trusted friend Malcolm @tydre shared the heartbreaking news that our karate teacher/mentor, Bernardo Rodriguez, passed away. He taught a blend of Kyokushin, Shotokan, and Goju-Ryu, instilling in us and his students principles and philosophies that remain touchstones during times of adversity. His lessons, along with the biblical verse “Whatever you do, work with all your heart,” have become constant reminders, even woven into the design of the shoes I wear daily @leaderqlty, as a source of strength and focus.

This is not about seeking pity, but a reminder that resilience is about staying true to one's self and persevering in the face of adversity. The road to greatness is often paved with struggle, and by embracing the season we are in, it can be transformed into fuel for growth.

overall, using tennis 🎾’s for hand-eye coordination is a practical way to strengthen our brain’s communication pathways, leading to better motor control and sensory processing.
