When Mitch isn’t watching movies, he’s thinking about them: writing lists, setting challenges and sharing his reviews. Naturally, his faves are perfect for the movie fan, so do as Mitch does and grab a coffee, get some M&Ms and lose yourself in some subtitles.

What a year for music in cinema.

There were plenty of needledrops, soundtracks, and scores that became earworms for us throughout the past 12 months, and we wanted to celebrate that with a wrap-up of our favourites.

To cover the full range of magical music moments in 2025 cinema, we’ve enlisted the help of fellow music and movie lover @reelobsession to ensure the best coverage possible.

“Growing up, I wouldn’t say my dad was a movie buff, but he did love his Hammer horror. I still remember the day he came home with a VHS copy of Dracula: Prince of Darkness. My brother and I were transfixed by the cover, and we begged him endlessly to let us watch it. Dad was hesitant, and Mum flat-out refused. So, he ended up hiding it on top of the fridge, out of reach. Then one night, after enough pestering (and while Mum was out), Dad finally caved. The moment that unsettling orchestral score started swirling through the opening credits, I knew deep down this was probably a bad idea. I don’t remember much else from the film, except for one image that burned itself into my brain: the blood-red eyes of Christopher Lee peeking out from the darkness, framed by those sharp white fangs. Absolutely terrifying stuff for an eight-year-old. I slept with the lights on for weeks after that, and any time I found myself in a dark room, I’d squeeze my eyes shut, just in case those blood-red eyes appeared. Even though it may have disturbed me at the time, it also planted the seed of my lifelong love for old-school horror. The Hammer classics, the Universal monsters, I love all that stuff now. So thank you, Dad, for disobeying Mum’s orders, traumatising me just a little, but more importantly, turning me into a lifelong horror fan.” - @2025intwentyfive

INTRODUCING: Split Screen

One Movie. Two Perspectives.

Our exclusive new series where we go head-to-head with fellow horror & thriller fans to debate genre films.

To kick things off, we’re putting the spotlight on M. Night Shyamalan’s most recent twisty thriller: Trap!

And who better to join us in our first debate than fellow genre fan and self-confessed Trap-denier @2025intwentyfive

Not only has he brought the criticisms, he was also the wiz behind the title & tagline for Split Screen 📺 Be sure to give him a follow (particularly if you’re not a fan of Trap 😉).

Feel free to leave your own opinions on Trap & thoughts on the debate below. Plus, if you want to be a part of this series, be sure to reach out with a movie suggestion of your own.

Ready to rumble? Let’s get into it.
