As part of the Italian Wine Ambassador exam students are asked to produce a video. Our group's assignment was to pick a wine, describe its organoleptic qualities, discuss its connection to its geography and history, potential pairings.

My pick? As an "authoctonos" (get it? 😆) Pugliese from the Bari area, it had to be one that's connected to my territory.

Going back to March… I am incredibly grateful and honored to have received the full fellowship for a residency at @vermontstudiocenter

My studio neighbor @charlie.smith.nh and I pushed real hard. Together we made work for and fired 3 bisque kilns in 10 days. @harlan_mack told us it was the most productive ceramics group he had ever seen at VSC. We probably should have slept more, but boy did it feel good to be covered in clay!

Much love to our sculpture group (3rd image) and all the other visual artists and writers (6th image) I got to meet, including visiting artist @ross_ho . I don’t think I’ve ever met another artist whose upbringing mirrors mine so closely, what a trip! Thank you VSC community for all the gifts of friendship, reflection, and experience.

Some dinners you will eat and forget. However, there are ones you will remember for a long time. Not long ago, I attended a special dinner curated by @laiwahheen, @ninjachef from @dailo.to, and @thedalmore. Not only did I get to try traditional Cantonese dishes from the chefs at Lai Wah Heen, but I also sampled what a similar dish would be like using contemporary cooking methods and modern ideas from Chef Nick. Best of all, each dish was carefully paired with different types of Dalmore whisky, from Port Wood to King Alexander Single Malt. Some whisky even blended into the dishes we ate. Overall, the dinner was very fun and unique. Especially for someone like me who has eaten Chinese food most of my life, I still found the flavours familiar yet different from what I used to know. Thank you for @chineserestaurantawards hosting such a great night for all of us. It was definitely a night to remember.

Thrilled to share that I am officially certified by the Vinitaly International Academy as an Italian Wine Ambassador! 🇮🇹🍷

[Check out my recent post on how I passed the exam, with tips that I wish I knew before I started!]

On June 22-23, for the first time ever, VIA brought its prestigious certification program to Toronto, and I had the absolute privilege of tackling it alongside an incredible cohort of 55 brilliant students.

Two days that included tasting 43 wines, deepening rapport with other wine professionals, and - dulcis sin fundo - an intense exam wouldn’t have been possible without the guidance of world-class leadership. A massive thank you to VIA faculty Sarah Heller MW (@sarahhellermw), guest faculty John Szabo MS (@johnszaboms), and the visionary Managing Director of Vinitaly International, Stevie Kim (@steviekim222), for steering the ship and inspiring us all.

A huge shoutout and thank you to the team at Aria Restaurant (@ariaristoranteto) for hosting us so beautifully and taking such great care of us throughout the program.

Finally, it must be said, this immense opportunity would not have happened without the invaluable support of the Italian Trade Agency (@itatradeagencytoronto). Thank you for investing in the community and bringing the soul of Italian wine to Canada.

The hard work paid off, the pin is on, and the journey is just beginning. Cheers to the new VIA Class of 2026! 🥂✨

🥂 Nel corso della serata, gli ospiti hanno avuto l’opportunità di esplorare le molteplici sfumature della denominazione, confrontando diverse espressioni del Pinot Grigio DOC Delle Venezie e riscoprendo la sua straordinaria capacità di sorprendere e conquistare.

☺️ I riscontri raccolti sono stati positivi: grande apprezzamento per la qualità dei vini presentati, per il format dell’evento e per l’atmosfera accogliente e informale che ha accompagnato ogni momento della degustazione.

🥂🙏🏻🥰 Toronto showed up BIG for Pinot Grigio DOC Delle Venezie 🇨🇦✨

As part of the anticipation towards World Pinot Grigio Day, we arrived in Toronto for one of the most energetic and exciting stops of the international tour so far.

✨ Hosted at the beautiful Paris Paris, the evening brought together sommeliers, restaurateurs, journalists, LCBO professionals, content creators and passionate wine lovers — all curious to discover a more contemporary side of Pinot Grigio DOC Delle Venezie.

🔥 Sparkling expressions, Ramato styles, and gastronomic interpretations created huge curiosity throughout the night. 🍇
The tasting islands were constantly alive with conversations, interviews, reactions, stories and spontaneous social media sharing.

🎤 Educational moments around the natural color of Pinot Grigio grapes and different winemaking styles generated incredible engagement and showed once again how storytelling, lifestyle and hospitality are shaping the future of wine communication.

🙌 Huge thanks to IEEM, all the local partners, the Paris Paris team and everyone involved in the organization and hospitality of this unforgettable evening.

For International Women’s Day, we’re highlighting a wine made by trailblazing Hong Kong–born winemaker Jade Gross.

This Tempranillo, grown from 36-year-old bush vines rooted in limestone soils, is vibrant, rich, and beautifully expressive. Savoury notes of tobacco, leather, and chocolate reveal its depth and development.

Jade Gross, a Hong Kong–born human rights lawyer turned chef turned winemaker, brings her remarkable journey and craft to life in this masterful bottle.

With its bold structure and savoury character, it pairs beautifully with rich dishes like Wagyu.
