All roads lead to Redditch the spiritual home of vintage and antique fishing tackle for Sundayโ€™s National Vintage Fishing Tackle Fair. The fair has been running since 1995 making it one of the longest running specialist vintage and antiques fairs in the country. As always all stalls are sold and the day promises to be a riot of a gathering, a joyful coming together of dealers, collectors, speculative sellers, the curious and the wider trade. All details are on the flyer above printed by master of ink Martin Clark @tilley_printing. I will be on the door, there is a tea bar selling hot confections, ample parking and a warm a friendly Midlands welcome. Whether you collect old tackle or deal in other areas and want to pick up monumental artworks or Georgian & Victorian smalls this is a fair never to be missed.

Trumpets sound for all those magnificent souls who made Sundayโ€™s National Vintage Fishing Tackle Fair a riot from stallholders old and new and all the autumn travellers who came through the gate from far and wide. It was a joy. The next edition of the fair takes place on Sunday 10th May 2026 when the get together will be in its 31st year. I look forward to your good company. If you want to go on the waiting list for a stall please send me a DM. New stallholders are always welcome, there are normally a handful at every fair and they are an essential ingredient of a good one.

Aaaand weโ€™re away! ๐ŸŽฃ Today marks the start of the 2025 trout season on the @thepeacockflyfishingclub waters. Officially kicked off by @peterarfield casting a dry fly on the Derbyshire Wye. Thanks to Jan and all involved for a great event, showcasing the talent, passion and community of this club. With only limited time, we quickly jumped in the Derwent for a few casts with @dav.sear rising a couple of fish but sadly none to the net. Tight lines everyone and cheers to a great 2025 season โœŒ๏ธ #peakanglers #flyfishing #fishthewild

Episode 264 with Peter Arfield I catch up with Peter to talk about a wide range of subjects that he answers in his own, inimitable and humorous way. He talls me about how he first started fishing the Wye in Derbyshire and the lessons he learnt while observing the trout in the clear water. We talk casting and why he decided to take a qualification and the impact it had on his fishing. Many will know of his tackle shop that was in Bakewell and I learn how it started and the challenges he faced. Please forgive the slight issues with sound that I hope donโ€™t detract from an interesting and amusing interview. Free to download and enjoy!
