Where the heart meets purpose ✨

Once again, the Journey of the Heart brought us to Lobo, Batangas, where ABS-CBN Foundation Vanguards spent time with coastal communities on the frontlines of protecting the sea. From the mangroves to the shoreline, they experienced the everyday work of caring for our oceans.

Our heartfelt thanks to ABS-CBN Foundation International for supporting the Journey of the Heart, and to Olo-Olo Seaside Workers Association (OSWA), Samahan ng Maliliit na Mangingisda sa Pangangalaga ng Kalikasan sa Brgy. Lagadlarin (SMMKBL), Bantay Dagat, Volunteers and the Local Government Unit of Lobo for making this journey possible.

Led by ABS-CBN Foundation GaLing Pamayanan, with the support of Bantay Kalikasan, this journey reminds us that when we immerse ourselves in communities, we don’t just witness change; we become part of it.

Because protecting our oceans begins when the journey reaches the heart. ❤️💚💙

She is warm, she is bright, she’s an artist and she’s our muse for the next bolso masterpiece ☀️

Meet Jordan. A ceramic artist, entrepreneur, surfer, island girl, mermaid (???) and all around Ola haus muse. She’s been our patron since the very beginning and we can’t wait for you to see how much fun we had when we shot the Cangrejos.

Yup, she made those sculptures beside her. And yes, she is very very very cool 🧜🏼‍♀️

More deets soon but for now, here’s a few more pieces you can watch out for.

The first Makers Market at Tending Gardens

Been wanting to make space for something like this! where friends and makers can come together and share what they’ve been working on.

When I started dreaming up this market, I kept coming back to the idea that making is never just about the final product. Even if we don’t always realize it there’s a kind of ongoing conversation happening between the maker and the material. The process becomes a dialogue. Sometimes even an argument. 😅 But there’s always something being said.

This market is a celebration of that exchange ✨

Come by , support, and meet the makers!

E/MERGING WAVES ༄༄
22-25 June 2025, Lokal Hub, GL, Siargao Island

This Sunday 22nd June, 4.30pm you are invited to the opening events of KATIWALA FEST: Isla Edition 2025, including the launch of the festival art exhibition:
𝐄/𝐌𝐄𝐑𝐆𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐖𝐀𝐕𝐄𝐒 - Gikan sa Bukid, Paingon sa Dagat.

In this gathering of island and upland artistry, 𝐄/𝐌𝐄𝐑𝐆𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐖𝐀𝐕𝐄𝐒 brings together works from indigenous and local artists whose rich practices echo textures of their homelands — from the mountain soils of Bukidnon to the coastal rhythms of Siargao.

Here, we explore both the emerging and merging: Voices & visions rooted in ancestral land and ocean memory that echo similar stories despite diversity in geography, generation, and medium. Through these diverse multi-media expressions that include soil painting, wood, weave and ceramic sculpture, video installation, and co-created artpieces, this exhibition becomes a shoreline - a dynamic embrace of earth and water wisdom.

𝐄/𝐌𝐄𝐑𝐆𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐖𝐀𝐕𝐄𝐒 invites you to see in these pieces a communal call for reciprocity - for just, transformative futures.

Featuring multi-media expressions by Rudy Figuron, the Caridad Weavers, the Bitaug Weavers, Rowins Omarol, Selima Saway, Oliver Saway, @ananaw_dayandayan @jillbacarisas @mariatokong.iao @gabrielbatallones @katrinakendalll @ariadnes.web and co-created artwork by @katiwala__ x @tending.gardens.
Full list of featured artists and works to be released soon!
