One of the biggest challenges when growing a business is learning when to let go of control and trust other people to take on responsibilities.

@ariannahuff once suggested that if you can find someone who can do something at 60% of your ability, you should delegate it. But for someone who considers themselves a perfectionist, that’s much easier said than done.

Hiring the right people is rarely straightforward. Someone might impress you in an interview, only for you to discover that their standards, attention to detail or level of commitment don’t quite match your expectations once they’re in the role.

But if you’re constantly waiting for someone who can do everything exactly as you would, are you ultimately holding yourself and your business back?

World Menopause Day | Chronic Pain at Midlife

A change in pain during perimenopause or menopause deserves attention, not assumptions.

Musculoskeletal pain at midlife can have multiple contributing factors. Hormonal changes may be relevant, but they are not a complete explanation for every new or persistent symptom.

The clinical picture matters: the history, the nature and progression of symptoms, movement, physical demands, previous injuries, sleep and other relevant health factors.

This is why individual assessment is so important.

In my practice, I look beyond the location of the pain to understand the person’s wider musculoskeletal presentation and consider what may be contributing. Where appropriate, osteopathic care may form part of a wider management plan, alongside medical assessment or support from other healthcare professionals.

The aim is not to reduce a complex experience to a single cause, but to approach it with clinical care, curiosity and an appreciation of the individual.

Recognition. Assessment. Evidence-based care.

The conversation about chronic pain at midlife needs to continue beyond one awareness day.
